Ultimatum

The Baron, Elizabeth and Sung stood off to the side, slightly down the hallway from the meeting room.

"How can I help you Baron?" Elizabeth asked, her tone was mostly flat, just enough to indicate her annoyance at the way the man had acted at the meeting.

"I want you to ask Tristan to stay behind, after the meeting?" Greenwood stated.

"Certainly but why?" Elizabeth asked.

"That's between Tristan and myself." the Baron calmly responded.

"He is a member of my team, so it concerns me." Elizabeth had a feeling Greenwood was up to something but couldn't figure out what.

"I need a temporary Tech mage. The one we had here is with a child." Greenwood explained. "You know how hard tech mages are to come by."

"Yes, I know but you must have other options." Elizabeth was not planning on agreeing easily to this arrangement

"It is only temporary, until I can find a more permanent replacement." Greenwood explained.

"I have heard how temporary temporary assignments can be." Elizabeth knew sometimes, many times actually temporary led to permanent.

"May I remind you, how you managed to make a mess of your first day on the job. I could just as easily bill you for the damages done to the Exposition." Greenwood knew he had her there. While Elizabeth's family could probably afford it, it would be a black mark on her leadership abilities.

"Fine. I will ask him to stay." Elizabeth was not happy with that situation, but it was what it was.

Greenwood said he would come and get Sung and herself in a few minutes. With that the Baron walked down the hallway. Elizabeth and Sung returned to the meeting room, a few minutes after leaving.
