Returning to Base

"I'll have to get in contact with my people but I can not do that at present." Sasha said as they arrived back at Elizabeth's home. "I will contact who I can tonight, but make no promise of information for a few days at least." She explained, helping Jackal and Lily from the carriage. "You two should also allow me to go first." she said, "You look a mess," she said to Jackal, "and you are a stranger." she said to Lily, "I believe I can best soften the landing."

Sasha knocked on the door and waited for someone to let them in.

Harvey answered the door. "Miss Lagrave," he paused looks past her. A quizzical look past his face as he spotted the doctor in clothes that were too large and a blonde young lady, standing outside.

Harvey did not hesitate, "Please come inside. I will get Lady Elizabeth."

The butler left Sasha and came back a few moments later with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth looked at Sasha, "Miss Lagrave, I am glad to see you made it back here. Where is Doctor Jackal?" A uneasy feeling hit her but she remained completely calm on the outside.

Sasha turned her head slightly to the hall. "Docteur." she called, and waited for the man in ill fitting clothes, to make himself known, but while waiting. "Lady Elizabeth." Sasha began, "There was an incident, I plan a full write up of the situation by tomorrow, however you are owed at least a quick explanation for now. While observing an exhibit and looking for Docteur Lamaire a seemingly unconnected exchange occurred. A practitioner of magic attacked the exhibit as what seemed be be a distraction to kidnap a young woman. I returned fire in an attempt to rescue her, in the fray a large stone column was dropped on Docteur Jackal whilst saving the young woman, causing him to turn. I can with utmost certainty say there was only one causality of the Demon side of our Docteur, however the destruction was extensive." Sasha cleared her throat, "We also brought the young woman with us. She had nowhere else to go and not a soul to trust given that her long time butler was involved in the attempted kidnapping. Though at present it is unclear if he orchestrated the kidnapping or if he is working with another."

Elizabeth watched as Jackal entered and listened as Sasha explained what had happened. She nodded. "Doctor, I am glad to see you made it back, as well. Please go upstairs and get cleaned up and changed, the others are having tea so feel free to join them, if you are disposed to that."

Elizabeth then spotted the young woman with blond hair, and this time the surprise on her face was evident, a rarity.

"Miss Lavigne, please come in." It was clear, Elizabeth knew the young woman. She closed the door behind Lily. Without even being asked, Elizabeth one if the servants to show Lily to a bedroom, so the young lady had a chance to freshen up. She was then offered to join the rest at tea.

Once Lily and Jackal left, Elizabeth turned back to Sasha. "Just one casualty? Was it someone involved in the attempted kidnapping?"

Sasha nodded, "It was the wizard who attacked us." she said, "It's possible another might have perished due to injuries as the demon there a chunk of debris at him when he shot the demon but he was still moving and groaning when I gave chase of Jackal. He was hit quite hard but I do not believe it was enough to kill him. The Wizard had two men with him. I do not believe they had used the serum we are tracking, but they were larger then men I've seen. Not Orc large, but something I don't quite know." she explain knowing that trying to explain the men with out a visual aid was falling flat. "Like a hairless upright gorilla." Sasha said. "The men's arms were slightly to long, and chests like barrels."

Elizabeth nodded. "I will need to think on the men. They could have been half-beasts." Her last comment was almost thinking outloud. "Thank you. I might have more questions later. For now, would you like some food and tea, or perhaps something a bit stronger sent to your room?"

Elizabeth had kept in mind that Sasha preferred to eat in her room. Maybe, eventually that would change but Elizabeth was one to make her guests as comfortable as possible.

Sasha nodded. "I will answer anything I can. It all happened very quickly so I might be lacking in some detail." Sasha said, "I believe I will join everyone, but if you have any 'Snow Fox' Gin the one with a brown label." she said, "Not the white, if you send someone else for it, it might look like an overly pale whisky at first glance." Sasha told her.

"Very well," Elizabeth nodded. She gave one the servants the drink order, pretty certain there would be some of that in one of the bar areas.

She led Sasha to the dining room.

Stopping in the hall Sasha looked at Elizabeth, "Please go ahead of me, I need to change my mask." she said.

When alone she pulled her normal mask down and tied on a face vail. It was enough to cover her face and only allow a small strip of her cheek and jaw to be seen.

"Of course," Elizabeth left the woman and headed back to the dining room.

After fixing her mask Sasha stepped into the dining room to join the others, likely to their shock.
