A Lonely Man On A Bus

Jp with Jaxx and Omni

As Dr. Jackal looked out the window he saw a bird flying in the sky. Upon closer look he realized it was an eagle. He admired it in the sky as it looked majestic. He wanted to fly like an eagle into the sea. He wanted to fly like an eagle and let his spirit carry him on. He wanted to fly like an eagle till he was free. He wanted to see the world through its revolution. Then he could see the people from below, but as he did he remembered the separation from the rich and poor and knew a lack of support to merely feed the babies who don't have enough to eat. There was also a lack of support to shoe the children with no shoes on their feet. Then in the slums there was also a lack of support to house the people who were living in the street. He felt guilty for his posh lifestyle now after his five years of living on the run in the slums. Oh, there's a solution to many problems but sadly it all comes down to time and effort. As a man of science he knew that all to well. Then he realized that time keeps on slipping into the future as he realized his past is unchangeable but the future still has a chance.

As Dr. Jackal was thinking about life he eventually realized the others were talking to each other behind him. He glanced back to see them all getting along and then turned back with a pained smile on his face. It was the same old reaction he had endured since his accident. People walked on eggshells around him and only talked to him when they needed something from him. Granted Lady Elizabeth and Mr. Sung were polite and respectful to him, but it was merely a means to an end. They needed his skills to find the evil doctor who stole his research and is using it for nefarious methods. More than likely he would have to stay in their employment so he could be watched indefinitely since he was still a threat to society. Sadly he was trading his freedom for a golden cage in the Order. Well at least he could bath and eat again so he knew he had to compromise in the end. As he listened to them talk he looked out the window again and wondered if he could
find a way to at least control his inner demon through science. Perhaps he could make some notes and do some research on the subject if he ever got any free time. Then he remembered Lily being nice to him and even holding his hand. It was nice, but he was confused by this since no one had done this since his parents passed away. He knew she had her own issues in life, but was at a loss on how to bring them up. Looking out the window he began to think about his research to keep his mind from dark thoughts.

Dumont offered a cigarette and Elizabeth shook her head. "No thank you." She had tried cigarettes once in boarding school but was not a fan of them, despite smoking being very popular.

“Et vous, Docteur Jackal?” Dumont offered him the same.

Dr. Jackal was lost in thought till he heard his name and looked around to see who was talking to him. As he turned around he saw Dumont offering him a cigarette. He had a puzzled expression on his face since it was the very first time Dumont said one word to him. Then he realized he had not responded and waved his hand as he replied, "Uh no thank you. I don't smoke.....but thank you anyway." Then Dr. Jackal felt a bit awkward as he had nothing else to say so he turned around and returned to looking out the window.

As Dr. Jackal looked out the window he found it ironic he was surrounded by other remarkable people and yet he was still alone. Then they passed a park and he saw some kids playing while their parents watched over them. He smirked as he heard some mothers yell out, "Children, behave!" He remembered being a kid back in America playing at the park hearing his mom say the same thing to him and his friends. Back then they would shrug off their mom's warnings and say, "That's what they say when we're together." Of course the moms would also say, "And watch how you play!" He and his friends knew that they don't understand them and so we're running just as fast as we can while holding on to one another's hand. Since he and his friends played all day till the sun went down they found themselves trying to get away into the night. Then of course he and his friends would play a bit rough and then put their arms around each other to tackle each other. Then they would tumble to the ground and then say, "I think we're alone now. There doesn't seem to be anyone around." After looking around the others would say, "Yeah..... I think we're alone now." The beating of our hearts is the only sound we could hear as we held in our laughter. We would look at the way we had to hide what we're doing, cause what would they say we were in trouble. If they ever knew what we were up to we would be in so much trouble. Life back then was wild and free. Of course all that changed as he grew up and his friends moved on in life. He honestly had no idea what happened to them since he cut all ties with America after he left to England.
