I know, I know.  We’re super late this year.  Normally we have this post out in August or September.  Unfortunately, I’ve had some major changes in real life that have taken just about all of my of my online time away.  Without going into detail, we’re here and we’re ready to sponsor another great Simming Fall Festival.  And we need your help!

History of FallFest

FallFest is a one-day online convention held annually in IRC chatrooms for anything and everything simming and online role playing.  The first FallFest was held in 2011.  It was intended to be a mini-SciWorld more friendly to European timezones. Read More

That’s right, host/chair applications are now being accepted for the biggest simming event of the year: FallFest 2013!  That statement immediately begs two questions:

First, what is FallFest?

FallFest is short for the Simming Fall Festival.  It’s an annual one-day extravaganza sponsored by Ongoing Worlds that’s dedicated to everything about or relating to online simming and role playing.  It takes place over the course of several hours in IRC chatrooms and will feature chat role plays, interactive games, and topical discussions & workshops.  Participants get to meet other role players from around the globe, learn more about their craft, and have fun all at the same time. Fallfest 2012 – IRC event for roleplayers

Fallfest banner

DavidThis article was written by Charles Star of Independence Fleet. Fallfest is similar to SciWorld, a chat event that ran a few months ago, but at a much more friendly time for Europeans. This sounds like a good idea to me, I was asleep when the best bits of SciWorld were happening!

Charles StarWe’re less than a week away from FallFest ’12!  What is FallFest, you might ask?  Well, it’s actual name is the Simming Fall Festival, and it’s an annual extravaganza held in online IRC chat rooms.

So this year on Friday, September 21st, role players from around the globe will come together to celebrate their craft: online simming and role playing.  We’ll meet for discussions, trivia games, and live sims hosted by some of the most talented and celebrated role players on the net.  With everything from Star Trek to Buffy, we’re sure to have something for you! #Multiverse IRC event will be back next year

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about the 4 day IRC event called #Multiverse. The event was to bring the IRC roleplaying community together and to grow it.

The community you see on DarkMyst is the best collaboration and community of players that many have ever seen amongst IRC role-playing community.

It’s an amazing group of talented and friendly people. Bringing folks together and creating the effort that you see was risky and an incredible challenge to do but it has worked out quite well and has been part of a massive and on-going plan to bring renewed interest and growth to the community.

Ryan, Network Coordinator, DarkMyst IRC Network

4 day IRC roleplaying event #multiverse

If you’re a roleplayer and use IRC, you might be interested in an event happening this week called #Multiverse. The event starts on 11th November and lasts for four days. Players from across many IRC networks and communities are invited to participate.

I asked Ryan from DarkMyst about the event and got this reply. As the event has already started, I’m just going to paste his reply below:

One of DarkMyst’s primary areas of focus right now is to bring the IRC role-playing community together and grow it. I am incredibly passionate about this and it’s become my personal mission to ensure its success. With the decline of IRC role-playing over the years and the struggles that it has faced, we have an opportunity to make a play to reinvigorate this wonderful community and bring folks together. That’s why #RPG-Hub was started – to make it easy for a new player to jump in, socialize with like-minded individuals, and find a game on DarkMyst that’s perfect for them. We do extensive advertising to promote the network and community on creative writing and role-playing websites, we are ranked top on Google for hundreds of text-based and IRC role-playing related keywords, and have an easy-to-use website that focuses on new players and bringing them into the community. The work that’s been put into things and the end result you see is a culmination of years of progress, and it’s starting to be noticed across the creative writing and role-playing communities.
