Who:- JayWhere:- Captains officeWhen:- during the Hymenoptera assaults Through the window, Jay saw the Raven soar past, unloading high-yieldmissiles."DAMMIT DEAN!" Jay muttered, as he got back to his feet, being knocked overagain a second time by another impact "You could have picked a better timeto get good!!"He got clambered back up, and reached the panel once more.The countdown had hit zero…A flash of light shot out of the front of the Thorax. A blue flash, filledJay's sight.When the light faded, Earth was gone…in its place, chunks of debristhundered past.Jay stood, in stunned silence. He had destroyed his home.Earth, was no more."These son's of bitches are gonna pay for this…" he muttered to himself. Jayran across to Amber's tactical console and entered the command forself-destruct. Luckily, his fingerprint scans still counted for something.He picked up Amber and threw her over his shoulder, then did the same withAlota and walked into an escape pod.The pod launched, and Jay radioed the Blue Dwarf to explain what hadhappened. He also explained how when the Thorax, the hub of the hiveexplodes, the Hymenoptera will take a while to adjust, they'd be disabledfor a short period, and the remaining Earth fleet should take that moment toescape from the region.He didn't expect them to listen to a thing he said, but he continued toexplain how he had wounded Blue Dwarfers aboard.He looked down at Alota, how now lay in his arms."Don't blame yourself Jay.." she said weakly "Don't go crazy ok?"Jay nodded. Fighting the urge to cry."I love you…" he said"I love you too…" Alota replied, she took a deep breath, then closed hereyes.And died. Jay snapped out of his daydream and glanced across the piles of paperwork on his desk, and the multitude of open windows on the monitors across his desk feeding in telemetry from all areas of the ship, and the battles going on outside. He leant back in his chair and held his face in his hands, sighing heavily then looked back at the jumbles of data. I…..can't DEAL WITH THIS RIGHT NOW!!" he snapped, and lurched across his desk, throwing everything, monitors and all off his desk where they smashed onto the floor before he ollapsed back into his chair and slumped forward over the desk, head in his hands."Smeg…" he muttered, and bent down to pick up a framed photo of Katrina that had tumbled from his desk in his outburst and slid it into his top drawer."Holly…" he said "Is Amber back aboard?""Yes Captain" replied the computer, through the wall speakers as the monitor on which he would normally appear lay smashed on the floor amongst scattered stationery, a broken coffee mug, paperwork and Jayus various personal possessions."Good…tell her to meet in Parrotts…I need a drink….""Righto" replied Holly"Oh…and get some skutters up here to clean up this mess…" he said looking back as he left the officer and dashed across the Drive-room, ignoring anyone who attempted to speak to him.-----------------------------------------------Who: Jay, AmberWhere: ParrottsWhen: After the above, during the raids.  Jay arrived in Parrotts to find Amber already at the bar. He ordered a drink, and paid for hers and they wandered over to a table at the opposite end of the bar.Sitting down, Amber was the first to speak "Captain, are you..""Don't call me Captain" Jay replied sharply, taking a sip from his drink "You've known me too long. It's Jay. I'm not sure I even deserve to be Captain…""Ok..Jay…you seem stressed, what's up?""How do you do it Amber?" Jay asked "How do you stay so damn strong with everything that's going on?""Ha!" Amber exclaimed, surprised at Jay's question. "I've been back less than a week, and already the paperwork is giving me a headache... Have you ever had to fill in a JM965-3C?" Amber said, sighing slightly."The one relating to dead crew members coming back from an alternate dimension?" Jay asked, knowing which form she was on about."That's the one, Dean's giving me a right headache. That and half the pilots aren't on board to help defend BD Prime at the moment because they are all off shuttling Engineering staff between thousands upon thousands of the other Blue Dwarves!" She took a swig of her drink and looked up at Jay, she noticed he had black rings under his eyes and looked worn out."You should try being Captain." Jay sighed, thinking about the mounds of paper and electronic forms that needed his attention. "I'll say one thing for Calvert, he wsn't that lazy, he got it all done.""The smeg did he. He was a drunken lay about who got us all re-assigned because of his incompetance." Amber scoffed, "You look worn out, whats bothering you?" Amber asked, suspecting that the appearance of his late wife and the reappearance of Evil-Jay was taking it's toll. Amber blanked out the part of her mind that screamed with guilt at the thought of Alota. "The last time he was here...the last time he showed up, I thought he was gone. Thought it was over. Thought we could finally rest" Jay sipped from his drink, then continued not once looking up at Amber "But I was wrong. WHY CAN'T IT BE OVER? Why can't he just LEAVE US ALONE!" Amber looked at Jay with more than a little concern. He was acting so out of character. Jay had always been the strong one, the unfazable one. The one who'd take the beating of his life and just crack a joke and carry on like nothing had happened. The one who had always been there to support Amber when she needed it. He looked up at her "You're the only one who knows what it's like..."  Amber paused for a long moment, thinking over the past. "It will be." She said, "Do you think... Do you think, I'm there. Here. Whatever..." "Probably" Jay said. "The universe they've come from is a direct offshoot from ours, the timeline that would have been ours if we hadn't done what we did. With Alota never being taken prisoner by Evil Jay, I was never released from the mental-prison he had me in. She never died.  I  never saved you..."Wonder what I became... Look, either way you are doing a great job of being Captain now. Jed wouldn't have even bothered sending these guys home, would have blown them up or jsut sealed the rift and hoped." Amber put her drink down ans placed her hand on Jay's arm. "You are a good guy Jay. Don't forget that." She quickly picked up her drink again and gulped some more down. "That didn't stop people from forming mobs and chasing me out of the village with burning sticks" Jay said "I'd FINALLY been able to let go, finally put it behind me and then...then this happens"   He ran his hands through his hair and paused for a long time before he spoke again."I can't let him ruin any more lives....I have to end it. For good"  "I need to teach myself a lesson as well. Don't go doing anything stupid without me will you?" She said, a wry smile on her face. "Is it wrong, that ever since he came back, I can think of nothing but revenge?" Jay said abruptly "That I spend every waking moment thinking about how I want to make him pay for what he did to me? To us? To Alota..." Jay continue "Is it wrong, that I can barely look Katrina in the eye, because I'm terrified that somethings going to happen to her too?" Jay paused again, then looked Amber dead in the eye "Is that wrong, that I hate this Alota, for not getting rid of him when she had the chance?""No, she isn't your Alota, it's not wrong of you to hate her at all. I know how you feel though, I want to hurt her. I really want to hurt Evil Amber for what she did, she made me ... Well... You know..." She dropped her gaze, not wanting to thiknk about it any more. The Bliss, the implat in her head from Evil Phil back on Plebe. She rubbed the back of her neck, where the Hymenopteran implant had been, a small scar the only thing left of it."He's capturing my counterparts...god only knows why...but it means he's gonna come for me eventually too.." Amber said nothing, but nodded her agreement."I can't fight off the Hymenoptera forever, at some point, they'll get me too. Somewhere along the line, I'm gonna come face to face with him again. When it happens, we're gonna finish this. I want you to have the Vespidae ready to fly. When they come for me, I want you to follow with a team of the strongest people you can find. Mk.10, Dante, hell, canaries for all I care. This time we're making sure he never comes back. Even if we don't ourselves.""The Vespidae is always ready. One of the brilliant things about the Hymenopteran fighters, feed them some honney and a bit of meat every now and then and they are always ready to fly." She smiled, "Of course after the Blue Dwarf modifications she needs some fuel, but it lasts ages.  "I'll have the best security people I can find ready to go, put out a tannoy for it or something." Amber said, grim faced at the thought meeting her double.
