Hymenthrope - "Revelations"

</snip1>
"No! stay back!" she called, firing her pistol in all directions, then
Amber's end of the channel went silent. All she then heard was a
hymenopterran roar, and a sharp crackle as the radio went dead...
</snip1>
A Hymenopterran spider-leg smashed the radio transmitted into pieces,
piercing the plastic casing, and leaving a dent in the vent floor.
Rosette's shirt lay torn on the metal floor next to it, along with
everything else she had been wearing at the time. Above the pile of
clothes led a night-black, silky spider. A red triangle shone on her
back, like a Black Widow, her normal legs had disappeared, replaced
with eight spider-legs from where her arms used to be.
Sharp claws appeared at the end of her real arms, which were also
covered in the silky exoskeleton. Her head had changed shape, her
hair had gone, and eight smaller eyes appeared over the front of it,
giving her a much better view of the world. Unlike Jed's attempts at
climbing through the vents, Rosette's legs retracted into her body,
and launched her down the vent like a toboggan on snow. She moved
quickly, barely pausing as she turned corners, or as she opened a
hatch to the corridor below...
"Oh my god!" yelled a young man, one of the new crewmembers from the
last time the Blue Dwarf had been re-crewed at Earth. He drew a
hold-out pistol and fired, hitting nothing but the metal walls as the
spider-like creature ran down the wall and straight into him, tearing
the man's hand from his arm. Screaming in pain, he tried to move to a
communications terminal on the wall, but the Hymenoptera moved quickly
to intercept him. Just as he was about to press the button, a sharp
clawed hand pierced through his heart, appearing in front of him. His
own heart was the last thing he saw as the other clawed hand of the
Hymenoptera decapitated him, the head rolling into the opposite wall.
Screeching like an oversized beetle, the Hymenoptera lifted the corpse
to the ceiling by his legs, and fixed them to it with a silky thread
from her abdomen. She was a fully-formed Hymenoptera Spider now...
Hearing footsteps, she disappeared into the vent opening again,
directly above the dead JMC technician... His blood dripped to the
floor as she watched whoever was about to approach...
<snip2>
Efof got the cold feeling he got when he remembered the race of
killer insects that had killed everyone single Ffionian other than
him. Apart from those other ones of course.
Efof quickly got out his phone and called Security, constantly
looking around. But never noticing the creature watching him from
above.
</snip2>
With a roar, and the cracking of metal, the Spider fell from the vent,
landing on top of Efof. His phone fell to the floor and smashed
apart, but not before Security had been alerted. With spider-speed,
Efof was covered in silk, screaming as his four arms were bound, and
he was hung on the wall, like a cheap tapestry. The spider clambered
over him, abdomen heading for his forehead...
"Noo! get off me!" Efof screamed, but the silk held him fast. No more
than a few seconds longer passed before Efof was white with fright. A
gunshot hit the wall nearby, causing the spider to withdraw, turning
to face the newcomers.
"It's a Hymenoptera!" the first one on the scene called. Chris Harris
was with the team, he fired his handgun at the bug, but missed as it
spiralled down the corridor towards them, None of them had seen a
Hymenoptera move with such speed and ferocity... Nor had there been
many encounters so far where the Human side had been so unprepared for
such a powerful foe... The first two security guards were cut down,
gaping holes across their chest... Blood trickled down onto the metal
floor, as Chris Harris stared death in the face. He reached down to
his belt, and grabbed a bottle of vodka... Standard issue since they
had discovered Jed. He opened it quickly and sprayed it at the
spider... But instead of melting, she turned and fled... The alcohol
hit nothing but the floor.
"My god... This ones clever..." He said out loud, breathing deeply.
