Jed & Rosette - "Filling in the holes"

<snip>
"I... Something happened to me..." Rosette said slowly, looking down
at her hands, and at the insect pieces on the floor. "Am I.... Like
Jed?" she asked, seeing a mental image of the giant spider-like form
of Jed Calvert, when he had tried to kill her in the TransMed building...
Annie smiled, and nodded slowly.
</snip>
"But... How do I control it?" She asked the glowing woman, different
emotions and images flooded through Rosette's mind... One's she'd
never felt before, and a mixture that no one could've ever thought
possible. She shook her head, and thought about it all for a moment,
as Annie turned to leave.
"Goodbye, Rosette. I know you have the strength of character to get
through this." She said, and vanished.
Rosette fell to her knees, her face a blank, vacant stare. Tears
began to roll down her face, before she clenched her eyes shut, and
bawled. The tears soaked the carpet, where blood had already stained
it. She forced herself to open her eyes, and stared down at her arms,
at her hands... She wasn't human anymore...
"Jed... Jed did this to me..." she said, her voice changing to anger,
but her eyes stayed bloodshot red. She looked through the pictures
that Annie had given her... Many different people, all of them worked
for Transmed... Memories appeared and disappeared as fast as moments
that everyone wants to last a lifetime.
"Transmed..." she said, the anger building up even more. She
remembered the gas grenade she had been hit with, or at least... the
gas that came after the grenade, when she began to control herself
again. It was that... She let herself fall forwards, smashing the
floor with her hands as the tears once again came.
"Why couldn't they just kill me?!" she yelled, instead of becoming
this... hybrid... she could've just been herself again... Dead, but
herself...
Her conversation with Annie was next through her mind... How the
Transmed people wanted to capture her, experiment on her, and use
her... The tears once again stopped, and she rose to her feet. "Not
if I can help it..." She said angrily.
-----------------------------
"It's a Trap!" The Transmed leader shouted, as he got up from the
floor, having been knocked down by the forcefield.
"No shit, sherlock." his subordinate mocked, before helping him up.
They all looked at each other, and raised their arms. Their free
hands were then placed on the wrist, and they vanished.
Nikki, who was watching from outside the forcefield opened her eyes
wide as she saw them disappear, but didn't notice them appearing
behind her, hitting her with a tazer. She fell to the ground,
convulsing, unable to do anything as the forcefield was de-activated,
and the TransMed guys left.
"No... Come back..." she muttered before they were totally out of sight.
They ran towards Jed's cell, using their tazer rifles as the security
guards attempted to stop them, but they seemed invulnerable...
"Sir!" one of the further back ones shouted, a loud bleeping coming
from his wrist. He looked down at the display on it, which showed a
blip coming from one of the crew quarters. "I've got another signal,
it's at 100%!"
"What? 100%? thats impossible!" the leader called back. "Change of
plan, We don't need Jed anymore..."
With their plans changed, they flicked a switch on their rifles, which
caused them all to start beeping slowly, until it became more of an
electronic whirring sound. As they approached Jed's cell, they
blasted the door out, causing Jed's chair to collapse, with him on it.
They levelled their rifles on him, and fired simultaneously.
Blue-ray laser beams shot through the chair, vapourising it before
they got to Jed...
"I'm... free..." Jed said as he felt the doors blast open. The laser
blasts hit him, and turned him into nothing more than a pile of
dust... He hadn't felt a thing. Jedidiah Calvert was finally gone...
"Sir! Contact!" a female voice called, every one of the transmed
people turned back to the corridor, as a giant Black Widow spider
walked slowly towards them.
"Leave... NOw..." the giant spider clicked in Hymenopterran. The
bio-suits that each of the Transmed people was wearing translated it
for them, they gulped, and raised their weapons.
"Tazers set to full power, we're taking this one in!" The leader
called. Switches on the weapons were switched again, and the darts
shot towards Rosette... She ducked away, only one of the darts hit
her, incapacitating one of her legs. She screamed as the electricity
flowed through her, but carried on, her front legs shot forwards
piercing through the front lines of the task force, ripping his bio
suit and tearing out his heart. The rest of the battle was very
similar. In the end though, the only one left was the leader, who
dropped his rifle and smacked the control pad on his wrist, causing
him to disappear.
Surrounded now by Blue Dwarf security guards, the spider stopped, and
watched them for a second, before sensing the hostilities, and leapt
into the nearest vent entrance. Chris Harris cursed that he missed it
again, but sent his security teams on a ship-wide search for the bug.
meanwhile, Rosette re-appeared in Seymour's room, falling from the
ceiling as a human again. She grabbed the plastic bag of clothes,
tore the first aid kit open and tended to her shoulder. Donning the
clothes as quickly as her one working arm would allow, she left
Seymour's quarters, and headed for her own for a really long sleep...
