Time's up...

Who:- Jay, Phil, Dean, Jay, Phil, Dean, and Nigel
Where:- Earth
When:- January 2089

"Dean, can't this thing go any faster?" Phil yelled above the noise of the engine and the wind whipping around the convertible car. He held a gun in both hands and was standing up, facing the rear of the car and leaning against the frame of the windscreen. In the back seat, three very confused, and very scared children were keeping their heads down.
"What would you have me do?" yelled Dean in response from the drivers seat, as he suddenly yanked the wheel to the left, causing the car move sharply to the left, cutting into the Motorways inside lane cutting sharply in front of a car already in that lane and undertaking one to his right, accelerating rapidly as he did so, making Phil stumble. "The road's packed with traffic, I'll crash if I go any faster!"
"When has that ever stopped you?!" Phil said
Dean tugged the wheel again, to the right this time, sending the vehicle all the way into the outside lane before overtaking a long line of cars.
"Dammit!" Phil yelled as he caught sight of a familiar car appearing from between the traffic. "Is that Jay...or the assassin..."

Nigel cared a lot less for the other road traffic than Dean did, and in the large 4x4 that belonged to Jay's father he ploughed through the traffic sending smaller cars hurtling into crash barriers and other cars with little concern. Seeing the convertible in sight he reached into his rucksack - which contained a sub-space pocket, similar to the one employed by Jay's hip flask, given to him long ago by Jack Febuggure, rendering the smallest of containers capable of holding objects several times it's own mass, scrabbling around, he pulled out a small, but powerful Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher, and holding it one handed, smashed the drivers window with it and reached out, aiming it at arms length toward the car driven by Dean.

Phil kept watching as the vehicle smashed through the cars, motorcycles and trucks using the motorway, it was clearly battered and broken having barged it's way through the other traffic, it's rollbars were buckled and dangled loosely from the front of the Landrover, it's headlights smashed and bodywork crumpled, but it didn't slow down...
"I don't think that's Jay!" Dean said catching a glimpse of the car's erratic driving in the rear view mirror.
Phil then caught sight of the rocket launcher, and the sudden burst of smoke that came from it as a rocket was let off.
"NO SHIT!" Phil said in response to Dean, "MOVE IT!!"
Dean wound the wheel quickly to the left, narrowly dodging the incoming projectile. "Smeg that was close!" Dean said.
Young Dean poked his head up over the back of the car, Phil bent down and shoved him back out of sight, then aimed his gun at the Landrover. He fired, and saw the bullet break the windscreen glass, but sadly missed the driver, who was now leaning forward and pushing the shattered glass out of the frame, where it bounced off the bonnet and harmlessly onto the tarmac.
"SMEGGING HELL!" Phil shouted in frustration. "WHAT DOES IT TAKE!"
Another rocket was fired, Dean again swerved to avoid it, which he did so by a wide margin this time, but as he swung back into the outside lane he clipped the wing of a passing car sending the convertible into a spin, whereupon it mounted the kerb of the central reservation. The speed of the vehicle combining with the sudden change of direction and impact lifted the car right off the ground, flipping over, throwing all of it's occupants in a multitude of direction before landing, upside down on the opposite side of the motorway, skidding to a halt, sparks flying, against the embankment and sending oncoming traffic in all directions.

Dean scrambled to his feet. He'd been lucky enough to have landed on the grass between the two carriageways and had suffered no major injuries, he looked around. Phil, and the kids were bruised, battered and covered in more than a few spots of blood, but every one of them was moving around. Noone looked to badly hurt. He heard the screeching of tyres and whirled around to see the landrove bearing down on them. Dean sighed. It was all over...the assassin had won....

What happened next seemed to move in slow motion. Dean watched helplessly as the Landrover accelerated as it closed in, aiming for the three children in the road, struggling to get to their feet, it must have been moving at well over 100 mph. If it hit the kids wouldn't stand a chance. Phil was just getting to his feet, clutching his arm as though it might be broken, he glanced toward Dean who looked back, neither of them could do a thing to stop what was happening, when without warning the unmistakable sound of helicopter blades chop-chop-chopping overhead was heard. Dean and Phil both looked up, the helicopter the assassin had arrived in at the industrial site was coming in fast and descending. Descending ridiculously fast....descending dangerously fast. It's nose lifted slightly as the chopper came within less than six feet from the ground and moved at great speed toward the oncoming landrover, it dropped some more and collided headlong with the four-wheeled drive vehicle sending a fireball up into the sky....it's pilot leaping from the cockpit seconds before rolled clumsily along the road stopping, battered, at Deans feet.

Jay looked up from the ground, bleeding, bruised and concussed but smiling. "You" he said "Could never have pulled that off...."
Then he passed out.

*** A few days later ***

Jay, Phil and Dean stood together, in the Archivers chamber. Phil's arm was in a sling, Jay leaned on a crutch, several of allthree mens body parts were wrapped in bandages. They had done it! Nigel had been killed in the collision and the future was secured..though, the Archivers would have preferred a little more...subtlety... preferably having found a method that didn't involve crashing a helicopter on the M3 in rush hour.

Nevertheless, they were finally, going home. "Phil..." whispered Jay as the trio stepped onto the teleporter platform that would send them back to the Blue Dwarf on their own time. "When you snuck into JMC headquartrers just before the Archivers brought us back here..what did you do?"
"Nothing.."
"PHIL.."
"Alright..I remembered that the Blue Dwarf was being designed about the time we were sent..."
"And?"
"Well..I made a slight...modification to the plans..."
"What did you do Phil?"
"NOTHING BAD!!"
"PHIL!!"
Jay couldn't finished the conversation as suddenly, the three Dwarfer's were engulfed in white light, which quickly faded, and when it did, they were standing on the Promenade, back on the Blue Dwarf.
"That!" said Phil "I did THAT!" he pointed behind Jay.
Jay turned around to see what Phil was indicating and saw what exactly he had done. Where once had stood Seymours Restaraunt "La Regal de la Niples" now stood a very large - and very busy - branch of "Peppermint Dino". Mini-Phil being tossed out of the door at that exact moment..
"STRIPPERS!!" said Phil, grinning.
