Keep Away

Evelina started thrashing her arms about hoping to attract the blue demons attention, she hoped like Jaxx said, that they couldn't swim." HEY BLUE DEMON THINGS OVER HERE, COME AND GET US IF YOU THINK YOU CAN!" Evelina screamed. Jaxx turned to face her, " What are you doing, do you wish to kill us." His face was showin slight fear. "Have you seen how fast they run, even if the camp heard us they won't have time to start running before the things get them, their best chance is if we attract the monsters attention long enough to let them get away." Evelina said still thrashing her arms and hoping the things had seen.

Evelina got her wish as three of the blue demonic looking creatures jumped into the lake and began swimming after them. Surprising enough they were very strong swimmers and didn't seem to be getting tired anytime soon. Jaxx and Evelina could see the crew scattering in a massive panic. Jaxx felt so helpless knowing he could do nothing to help the others. As it is he didn't know what to do to protect Evelina. Jaxx looked back at Evelina and then at the blue demonic looking creatures who were very close now.

Suddenly Jaxx hugged Evelina and said, "Just trust me babe." Then Jaxx held Evelina as he swam underwater a good twenty feet into some thick plants. Evelina and Jaxx looked up from the vegetation as the blue demonic looking creatures started looking for them in the water. Jaxx could see Evelina was running out of air so he put his mouth on hers and blew air into her mouth using his gills . At first Evelina began to panic but soon realized what he was doing. Jaxx looked up with the corner of his eye to watch the blue demonic looking creatures above. The two stayed hidden for a while as the relentless blue demonic looking creatures began diving to expand their search.

Suddenly Jaxx heard a familiar voice in his head. Franky the giant squid was nearby. Franky thought, "Oceans to Murgatroyd! Well done Jaxx you managed to save one but how will you save the others I might ask even, or would you two like to be alone?" Jaxx thought, "As cool as this looks I really could use your cosmic wisdom about now." Franky thought, "Oceans to Murgatroyd! I thought you'd never ask."

Evelina and Jaxx looked out the corner of their eyes as they continued to share Jaxx's air supply and saw several long tentacles shoot past them and wrap around the blue demonic looking creatures and quickly pull them down. Evelina got scared as the blue demonic looking creatures quickly sunk nearby. She looked at Jaxx who then winked at her to reassure her it was ok. Evelina was still concerned but didn't want to loose her oxygen supply just yet.

Jaxx thought, "Thanx Franky. You are a most wise and gifted mentor dude." Franky thought, "Oceans to Murgatroyd! You flatter me so even. Those blue guys are always killing off the survivors of this island, but I can only fight them in the water my boy. It will be up to you and your new friend to help your crew-mates now." Jaxx thought, "Most uncool Franky. I barely saved Eve in my own element. This is so non non non non non non heinous." Franky thought, "Oceans to Murgatroyd! You need to learn to look to others for help even. Search for survivors and escapees first then work it out together even." Jaxx thought , "Ok Franky and thanx big time bro." Franky thought, "Oceans to Murgatroyd! I was just looking after my apprentice even. By the way the blue ones are gone you two love birds can go up now. Exit stage up even."

The camp was eerily empty.

It looked like they'd left in a hurry after, or during, a nasty fight.
The hard ground made it difficult to tell whether they'd left of their own accord - escaping the attackers - or if they'd been taken.
A wave of distress broke over him at thought of his crew/camp-mates being snatched by any of the weird things like the ones they'd seen swarming in the caves. He didn't want to imagine the heinous things they might be doing to them.

He heard a distant screeching roar, and a nauseated shudder took hold of him. He stepped back into the bushes, vulnerable in the open, and pulled his blanket tighter around himself.

With his back to a tree he scanned the mauled makeshift beds and the trampled campfire, and, with a pang of guilt for thinking it, wished he'd stayed with the dinosaurs.

Jaxx nodded and held Evelina as he swam up to the surface of the water and released Evelina. Evelina quickly took a deep breath of air. Jaxx and Evelina saw a destroyed and deserted campsite.
