Apologies

Jamie opened his eyes slowly, and blinked the tears from them as the sedation wore off. He squinted under the bright lights of the medical bay, always bright enough for the doctors and nurses to see everything they needed to. Right now, there was no one there. He wasn't strapped down, and as he stretched and climbed off of the bed, he groaned with pain. Then, as the events of earlier in the day caught up with him, he groaned again. This time with anguish, embarassment and the need to crawl into a hole and wait for things to be forgotten.

"Holly." He said, his voice back to normal now.

"Yo, dude. Loving the Tarzan impressions." Holly said, as Jamie was still in his makeshift loin cloth.

"Yeah... don't remind me." he said, looking away from the disembodied head. "Where's Cass?"

"Everyone's down at Parrotts." Holly said, "Having a good time."

After what happened down on the planet, everyone could use a breather... he thought, and took a deep breath.

"Thanks, hol." he said, and started running back to his room. He hoped, beyond all hope, that when Holly said 'everyone' he meant Everyone, as in the entire remaining crew. That would give him a clear path to his room, where he could clean up, and then go and apologise.

"Ginsters pasty... What was I thinking?!" he scolded himself as he ran, and fortunately managed to avoid everyone. He entered his room, and began the extensive cleanup operation.

An hour later, he was presentable again. At least, as close to presentable as an engineer could be. He had thoroughly showered, and was wearing clean clothes that covered everything that should be covered. With another deep breath to steady himself for the potential apocalypse, he headed down to the Promenade, where the rest of humanity currently resided. Parrotts was the staple of all ships - the one bar that everyone seemed to end up in eventually. His own ship, being a Space Corps battleship had a mess hall, rather than a bar. But it still had alcohol for when you were off duty, and that counted.

A sad day when the entirety of the remains of Humanity could fit on one table in a bar.

He approached them, and then stopped.

The clever way to approach this... he thought in the back of his mind, would be to help out with the current activity.

Steering his way to the bar, he bought a tray full of drinks, trying his best to note what everyone's glass currently contained on the table, and slid it down in front of everyone.

This yielded a cheer, but also a minor amount of glaring.

Jamie held his hands up to Cass in an "i surrender" gesture, passed her a drink, and followed it up with "I'm sorry. I can explain it all later if you want. But if you'd rather just forget it happened, that works for me too."

Then, he turned to Jade, and apologised to her too. The same thing, but saying it again made it feel like he'd apologised properly, rather than just tacking on a "same to you." to the end of it.

He then grabbed a stool to perch on the end of the table, and started his long journey to catch up with everyone elses blood/Alcohol levels.

<There we go. simple, but it does the job. Didn't want to put words in Cass' mouth in case you had a specific reply ready for this moment. Only tagged people confirmed to be at this shindig in previous posts.>
