Re: [JMC_Blue_Dwarf] help (I need somebody help...)

Sean

I know its confusing when you first start a sim and you don't know who any of the characters are, you don't know whats going on and what to do first. But bear with us, we've had a lot of posts lately dealing with different sections of the storyline, and a few subplots thrown into the mix just to confuse everyone!

As Andrew Bowers and Chris Farnell (Major Harris and James Johnson in the sim) have already helped out a bit by giving an update and a few wise words, I don't need to add much. (Thanks guys!) But stick with us and everything will all make sense. Try sending e-mails to other player-characters if you're unsure about things, and you could even work together with them to write a 'joined-post'.

I'll try to include as many people as I can in the Action posts, but I can't include everyone- people have to take the initiative and include themselves in the storyline somewhere.

Generally we stick to one storyline which will be controlled by the Action posts, this puts the characters into a situation and it is up to the player-characters to extend this and write a more detailed version of what their character is doing.

To everyone-
I know that a lot of you voted for a list of rules or a tutorial in the latest poll. I'm particularly busy right now so if any of the more experienced members would like to contribute by writing a guide on how to play and sending it to me- I would be most grateful.

>okay, i realy want to take paret in this "RPG" but i dont have a clue whats>going on. every day i get emails telling stories. how do u keep continuity>if everyone just rights about their charector?  i mean if i decide to take >a>Satbug out for a spin, how do i know that 10 other people have done the >same>thing? You keep continuity by reading other people's posts (properly, skimming them means you tend to miss important details) and by attempting to keep your posts relevant to the plot. Instead of just making something up off the top of your head, you read other posts and react to them, maybe your character was affected somehow by events in another post, or saw the events going on and decided to intervene.>>i dont know what my quarters looks like - do i just make it up?Providing you keep it realistic (For instance if you're the ship's toilet cleaner you aren't going to have a penthouse suite with it's own botanical gardens)Most people's rooms probably look like the quarters in the Red Dwarf TV series, but feel free to elaborate on decorations, posters etc. It's a good way to get across your characters personality.>i dont know if i'm sharing a roon - do i just make it up?Yes>can u help me out?I really hope I have done. Basically the best way to get involved is to jump in at the deep end and post, either just write a post to introduce your character, or write a post to have your character responding to someone elses post.>also - i'm not on the crew roster yet.I'm sure Onion will get around to it b4 Xmas._________________________________________________________________________Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.The continuing adventures of the Blue Dwarf...www.geocities.com/bluedwarf2000To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to:JMC_Blue_Dwarf-unsubscribe@egroups.com
