Football

Doug was glad to be out of business class and not having to talk to his sister. He knew she wouldn't be in football practice with him and that avoiding her at gym class easy.

Like everyone else in the class he had gotten changed before the gym class was split up. He, of course, was sitting by the football players which were in a group so when they were called to follow the coach out a large section of benches was left empty.

Football practice was outside on a practice field. A lot of throwing, running, tackling dummies, drills. Time went fast; as far as Doug was concerned because this was something he liked.

A few of the freshman that wasn't making the cut were let go when the bell rang to announce class was over. Everyone else was told to stay. More practicing. More weeding out. Until they were left with teams. JV and Varsity. Doug made it on to the Varsity team; which didn't surprise him at all. The next few practices would determine the first string. He was up against Seniors but was as good as any of them. Only time would tell if he actually made the first string. His ego was such, though, he was certain he had it.
