Dream Girl

There was something to the mystery girl Charlie was like a fish easily taking the bait, or a deer in the headlights. He hardly got any sleep the night before. Trying to figure out who his mystery girl was.

Sadly the morning alarm sounded and he'd made no headway. Not knowing a person's name really made it a challenge and he didn't even know which school she went to. Dejected he made his way to to breakfast. Looking up just in time to see the vision across the quad. Milling among their friends.

Charlie froze as he looked and believed he found the girl of his dreams across the quad. He had to blink and rub his eyes a few times to make sure he was not seeing things. He had completely forgotten he was eating till the jocks around him were horsing around and blocked his view from the girl of his dreams. He tried to move to the side to look around the jocks but regardless of which side he tried to peek from the jocks kept blocking his view. Charlie was getting frustrated and questioned if he was just seeing things.

The next time this mystery girl appeared was after Charlie's first period class. The glimpse was to brief for his mind to process until after it was to late. He's caught her talking to someone as she tucked some hair being an ear and ducked into the bathroom.

Charlie felt his heart beating like a drum as he saw the mystery girl again as he left his first period class. Since the hallway was crowded he had trouble following her. After the mystery girl went into a room, Charlie struggled to see which room it was as he was moving against the crowd. When he finally reached the mens restroom he was confused as to where she went. Sadly his second period teacher approached him on the way to class and insisted he he get to class be he is tardy. Charlie gave in since the teachers and coaches monitored the athletes.

Their third encounter was short as the previous one. And Charlie would have had his best chance if he'd had the power to ignite more then a few brain cells. His mystery girl was leaning over a water fountain holding the right side of her hair away from the water. Charlie missing to important details first was where he was going... because he slammed into a jock buddy of his. "Dude what is with you today!?" He snapped "Your acting dumber than normal." He added. And with that Charlie forgot what the second thing was.

Charlie kept trying to look around the jock to find the water fountain and his mystery girl. He was getting frustrated each time he was blocked by his fellow jocks. All he could do was say he was looking for someone and this just encouraged the jocks to tease and egg Charlie on.

Interactions like his happened all day and Charlie thought it was going to be another whole day before he could try again to find her. He sat in Home Economic class. Charlie sat staring into space trying to figure out who he could ask to find out who the girl was with out starting rumors or teasing. But he was shaken out of his mental list when he felt a hand grab his shoulder by someone behind him.

Charlie was mentally exhausted and annoyed. His so called jock/friends not only prevented him from finding his mystery girl but they also teased him and gave him a hard time. He just wanted a moment to talk to the mystery girl since he was sure she would listen to him. Sadly life was not fair and he was down on his luck. So as he turned around to see who was behind him, his eyes were sad like a kicked puppy.

Behind him stood the mystery girl. Who's sassy look faded a bit seeing Charlie's face. "Well that takes some of the fun out of it." They said, voice an even mix of soft but a mild depth to it. They took a seat directly across from him. "Why've you been staring at me all day?" They asked. "If you are trying to figure me out good luck, if you are thinking about beating me up I'd advise against it. My mother has very very good lawyers."

Charlie felt his heart swell as he saw the face of his mystery girl behind him. He was in such shock that it took a few minutes for him to realize what he heard. Then he muttered, “Huh?…………. So you are real?”

Galaxy raised an eyebrow. "Yes" they said puzzled. "What's the even supposta mean?" Galaxy questioned Charlie.

Charlie nervously swallowed the lump in his throat as he tried to find the words to use, but sadly when he had a complicated problem his poor brain shut down. So he looked like an idiot for a minute till some words popped into his head.

Charlie: What is your name?

Galaxy waited patiently as Charlie rebooted. "I'm Galaxy" they relied, "Bit of a strange one but it's what my mother named me." Galaxy answer propping her chin against her hand, looking directly at Charlie.

Charlie was dumbfounded as he gazed at the beautiful angel before him. He was now on auto pilot as his brain took a backseat to his heart. Then he replied without thinking.

Charlie: I like it. So like how long have you been in this class?

"I like it to. Some people just think its funny that my name isn't a real name." Galaxy said, "But I would have been in this class since the start but my family was late getting back from summer holiday so I was late coming back to school." they replied, "Which is probably fine, all I missed really was some silly slave day thing and a beach trip, and after spending a summer on the beach, not this beach different beach, the beach didn't really sound like the fun time it was for the others."

Charlie nodded as he was totally focused on Galaxy's every word. Poor Charlie could not help but look at Galaxy's lips and wondered what they tasted like. This was a big deal for Charlie since it was his first real crush and his body was all tingly.

Charlie: Wow. Well we all like different things huh? You have pretty eyes.

Charlie had no idea what he just said as he was on cloud nine without a parachute.

"That is undeniably true." Galaxy responded. "Couldn't do a sport even if I wanted." they said. "Super weak wrists, and to good looking to get hit in the face with balls or get knocked into dirt. I'll stick with the stuff I'm good at, the stage." they said with a flourish of their free hand.

Charlie was enchanted by Galaxy as she spoke her mind. In the past when he saw Joey with other girls he wondered what it would feel like to be with someone you like. Now he was experiencing spending time with a girl he liked.

Charlie: Why would anyone want to hit your pretty face with balls?

Galaxy covered her mouth to not laugh. "You'd be surprised who'd want to." she teased. "Lot of sickos out their wanting to do all kinds of things with balls. But you're not a sicko, right?" Galaxy asked him.

Charlie shook his head no as he was still charmed by Galaxy's pretty face and voice. He so wanted to kiss Galaxy on the lips but he was afraid to make her mad. Joey told him in the past that a girl will let you know when they want to kiss.

Charlie: You are amazing.

Galaxy put both hands up in glamorous gesture punctuated with a small laugh "I tend to think so." they said before placing their hand back as a chin rest. "But I can't do all the talking here. What's your deal?" Galaxy asked. "Do not get it twisted I love talking about myself but it is rude."

Charlie had a small grin as he looked at Galaxy in all her splendor. While still on autopilot his mouth kept going without his brain interrupting at all.

Charlie: I'm Charlie. Do you want to do something on the weekend?

Galaxy looked up at the ceiling tapping a finger against their lip, the polish a shimmering glittery purple that changed to black as the light against it changed. "I don't know." they looked back down at Charlie, "You're not gonna make me pay are you?" they teased, but before an real answer could be given the bell rang. "I'll think about it." Galaxy responded, getting up from their chair.

Charlie: I'll pay.

Charlie blurted out as they were getting ready for the class. Of course he was slow on the hint as he watched everyone pull out their stuff for class before he even opened up his bag. It was then that his wimpy brain turned on again and he scrambled to get his stuff ready. He also realized the things he said to Galaxy and his eyes got big as his face turned red with embarrassment. He could not believe he had the courage to ask his dream girl out. As the teacher began to lecture them he was unable to get his mind right for class and was called out by the teacher to answer a question and of course he got it wrong which made others laugh at him with his insane wrong answer. Even though he wanted to talk to Galaxy after class he was told to stay after class to talk to the teacher.

And once again something nagged in the back of Charlie's head. Not matter how meat headed he was he knew for sure he was missing something but couldn't put his finger one what. Something was off...
