Retrieving Help

JP with Lorem, Jaxx and Cindy

May 12, 1889
Early Evening

Harold had greeted Marcil at the door, and after hearing what had happened sent to working tracking down the rest of the team members. His first visit was to Lily, who was in her office. Harold knocked on the door waited for a response.

Lily was busy writing a response to a letter in her mail office, when she heard the knock at the door. She put her quill into the holder and organized the papers to not fall off the desk as she got up to answer the door. As she opened the door she saw Harold and replied, "Oh hello, Harold. Do you need me for something?"

"Miss Lavigne, there's been an emergency. Marcil is here. He said Lady Elizabeth has become seriously injured in a fight and the cab they took was damaged. You are needed to go help the team. I am going to get Miss Ipsum and Dr. Jackal as well. Please get yourself ready as soon as possible." Harold's words were a strong suggestion more than an order but there was a definite urgency about them.

Lily's eyes bulged out as she heard the news. He nodded as she tried to think of what to say. Then she replied, "Yes......of course. I'll fetch my things." Then Lily raced to her room to grab a hand bag that contained a few things she might need such as a knife, and some first aid bandages. She wanted to pack more but remembered Dr. Jackal would have a better medical kit so she stopped collecting her things. Then when she was ready she made her way to the door to look for Harold.

Harold left Lily and was about to head outside to get to the others when he happen to run across Lorem who had come into the house. "Miss Ipsum," Harold sounded concerned as we spoke. "Marcil is here. Lady Elizabeth has been seriously injured in the fight. And the cab's engine was tampered with. You're needed to go with Miss Lavigne and Dr. Jackal to help the team."

Lorem had been wandering around trying to find Harold inside the house. To her good fortune, he found her. Unfortunately the interaction would not go according to her expectation.

Upon hearing the distressing news, her jovial expression turned serious. “Affirmative. Do I have time to get my things or must we leave this instant?” She was still holding the small box which contained his fixed pocket watch in her hands.

"No, go get your things. I still have to get Dr. Jackal. Just please be quick." Harold was trying to remain calm, but there was a worried tone to his voice. He looked down and spotted the box in Lorem’s hand, it distracted him for a moment. "Is that the watch?"

Lorem looks down also having momentarily forgotten why she had come to find him. She manages a smile despite the situation and hands it up to him. “Yes, looks just as old but works like new. It was an honor to work on, thank you.” The moment he took it from her she curtseyed and took off swiftly walking back to the workshop to begin assembling her things.

"Thank you," Harold's appreciation was genuine. "This means a great deal to me."

Lorem left quickly, as did Harold. His next stop was the laboratory of Dr. Jackal. The Butler knocked on the door and waited for a response.

Dr. Jackal was in the middle of cleaning his lab when he heard the knock at the door. He put his stuff down and checked to see who was the door. When he opened it he saw Harold and was curious if something happened since it was not a maid. Jackal asked, "Can I help you Harold?"

"Dr. Jackal, there's been an emergency. Lady Elizabeth was seriously injured at the stake-out. You're needed to go with Miss Lavigne, and Miss Ipsum to help the team." Harold explained.

Dr. Jackal's eye seemed very concerned as he replied, "Hold on." Dr. Jackal then rushed back to his lab and grabbed his first aid kit as well as a bag to put it in. Then he grabbed various tools and ingredients he might need as well and stuffed them into the bag. He grabbed additional bandages and put them into the bag before he came back to the door to see Harold. Dr. Jackal then replied, "I'm ready."

Lorem arrived as quickly as she could to the front entrance. She had a large backpack on her back that was forcing her to lean forward to balance the cumbersome weight and size. She was sans grenade launcher because she had given her sized version to Elizabeth and the larger one was beyond her ability to manage.

Upon arrival she took note of the others that had been called to action. This must be serious indeed if they needed this combination of expertise. She let the backpack down to the floor, it landed with a solid thud on the floor. It took her off her feet and suspended her in air before she unstrapped herself and landed nimbly on her feet.

Lily looked at Lorem and gasped at the sound of the backpack hitting the ground. Lily asked, "Do you need have someone to help with that Ms. Ipsum?" Lily was only caring a handbag with little weight to it.

Lorem was not one to be shy to ask for help. Those types were dwarves. She promptly replied, “Yes please, it is quite heavy. Very kind of you to ask.”

Harold arrived at the front entrance with Marcil, just as Dr. Jackal was asking about the backpack.

"I will carry it," Marcil said, and without hesitation picking it up.

"I have retrieved a cab for the four of you." Harold explained, as he opened the door, to escort them to the cab.

When they got outside, the cab was almost more of a van in size, it was what Harold could get at the moment.

Dr. Jackal helped the two women into the cab first before he entered it and then adjusted his bag. Lily asked, "Do we have everything and everyone?" Dr. Jackal was curios if more people were coming as he looked around.

Marcil responded, after he got into the cab, and giving the driver the information as to where they were going. "I did not have time to get anyone else."

Dr. Jackal nodded as he replied, "I see. Well since we have time now can you tell us the details?" Lily looked at Marcil in hopes to hear more on the topic.

Lorem took her seat. Her hands in her pockets fiddling with a few trinkets that were there. She was nervous, but was trying her best to put on a good face. She listened closely to what information Marcil may reveal.

Marcil got up and used a privacy window attached to a divider, he closed it so the driver couldn't hear what was being said, a precaution as this wasn't a cab or driver that was part of the Order. He then sat back down.

"I stayed with the cab for a while but then could hear the sounds of a fight occurring." Marcil began, "I arrived just in time to see Lady Elizabeth be hit in the back of the head by a metal rod or post of some sort. She was knocked unconscious. From what I could tell the team captured one target in a net. The fight was over so I told Cronk, I would get help but when I got back to the cab the engine had been tampered with."

Lily asked, "Was anyone else injured? Dr. Jackal looked into his bag to make sure he had the medical supplies for Liz's injury. Then he asked, "Is the Order sending anyone else?"

Marcil answered Lily first, "Not from what I could tell. The man in the net was injured, but no one else from the team."

Then he turned to Jackal, " I had no time to track down anyone else or get word to the Order. Harold said he would try to get word to them, but that's not a guarantee."

Dr. Jackal rubbed his chin as he pondered on how serious the situation had to be for Lady Elizabeth's staff to allow him and Lily to leave the estate. he was under the impression they were to stay at the mansion. This whole scenario sounded odd. Lily could see the good doctor was in deep thought and she could see he had a concern but was not saying it out loud. She hoped to ask him later in private if he was willing to share his thoughts.
