Odourus Times

Phi shielded her eyes as the unknown vessel touched down inbetween their only form of escape and the woefully underprepared crew. She coughed and spluttered a little as the wind from the ship blew sand towards her face. She struggled not to think about where the sand had been and how it was now touching her lips and face.

She missed her hygenic and clean medibay. She missed the smell of sterile needles. She missed the smell of bleach and medicinal alcohol. She missed a lot of things to do with real medicine, when she thought about it. She hoped that eventually they would wrestle control of the Blue Dwarf, fully round up the crew and then...

Phi faltered a little. They were three million years into somewhere in the universe and the only humans she could think would viably be alive. What were they going to do? Earth was a very long stasis sleep away and could they even be sure that the solar system remained in the state they'd left it.

She watched, and gagged, as a hatch in the ship opened and a foul smelling, ugly looking creature squeezed out and onto the beach. Phi gagged again, her reflex kicking into overdrive. He was made out of armpits and he definitely smelt that way. She took a step back as the armpit monster made its way over to them. As it neared, the intensity of the smell increased and Phi wondered if she could die from odour.

His greasy eyes scanned the Humans, and he licked his dirty lips. “Oh what have we got 'ere? Lovely clean Humanoids. He sniffed with his bulbous and warty nose. “Smells lovely, I think I'll wear your skin and boil your organs into deodorant.” He pointed a spear with a dirty sock on the end towards Phi. “Starting with you! Hur-hur-hur!”

Phi shut her eyes and tried to whisk her mind away to her special comforting place; a room with every wall covered by scrubbed clean white tiles with a single stool in the middle. She breathed in and out slowly and got frustrated. The armpit creature was sitting on her stool and his stench was seeping into every tile. Phi opened her eyes to see Cassandra shouting angrily at the creature and waving a gun at its face.

“Little humanoids” he purred “Always so impetuous; so ...unwilling”
He jerked his sock adorned spear in Cassandra's direction, dropping her to the floor immediately, as whatever neuro-synaptic technology his race had mastered hit her hard, leaving her gasping for breath and writhing, defenceless in the sand, her pistol laying unused nearby
“What the smeg!?” Jay snarled, surging forward alongside Davie, only to be cowed back by a threatening shake of the man's spear
“One wrong move” he smirked “...and she dies this instant”
“You're dead” Jay said simply
“Oh, I don't think so” the fat man sneered, shuffling forward towards Cass to stoop over her “Your kind always make such threats; you always underestimate us Malodorians...”
He favoured the assembled humans with a rotten toothed grin, before returning his attention to Cassandra, laying, still twitching, at his feet
“This one” he breathed, pulling a dripping hand out from inside his robe to wetly caress her cheek “My God, I'm going to enjoy her before she dies...”

Phi had barely enough time to register what the Malodorian was saying when she felt a sharp stabbing in her side. She looked down at a small puncture wound on her stomach. 'My Jacket!' she thought as the wave of searing paralysis overtook her body and she dropped to the floor.
