Cave Story

Jaxx nodded and jumped into the hole first followed by Davie.

Jacky looked at Jaxx and Davie. He also looked at Jay.

\"Congratulations, gentlemen. Your brave effort of rescue does not go unappreciated.\" Jacky said \"Of course, I feel the need to point out a single glaring flaw: leaping down into this hole means only that you\'re stuck down here with us.\"

The three were silent for a time.

\"Still. Good to enjoy the company.\" he added, pulling a lighter and a pre-rolled marijuana joint out of his pocket.

Everyone was staring at him.

\"Well.\" Jaxx said.

\"Huh.\" White Wolf added. \"Didn\'t think you were the type.\"

Jacky was uncomfortable and placed both items back in his pocket.

\"As odd a situation as this makes, at least he has a lighter. Is there any wood lying around?\" Cass asked.

\"Probably not.\" Davie said, shortly before nudging the ground with his foot and finding some immediately. \"Oh. Nevermind.\"

The crew took the thin, sickly sticks found in the cave and did their best to light them with the lighter to make torches.

\"It\'s no use. We need something to get the fire going. Like cloth.\" Jay said.

\"Have you got any cloth in your magical pockets?\" White Wolf asked Jacky in a joking tone.

Jacky didn\'t respond. Slowly he showed that he did.

\"Do you just pick up everything you see?\" White Wolf asked him, bewildered.

\"Well, what\'s the use of having large pockets if you\'ve got nothing to stuff them with?\" Jacky said.

Jacky handed the small bit of cloth over to Jay, and he lit it, though there was only enough for one torch. The immediate group could be seen more clearly. Cass saw Jaxx.

\"What the smeg?!\" she yelled. \"You\'ve gone shark again!\"

\"Yes I have.\" Jaxx said, sternly. \"It happened while I was in the waters.\"

\"Contact with water turns him shark again, apparently.\" Davie said. \"He\'s still good, I swear it.\"

\"That may be, but I\'m still not fully trusting him. You saw what happened before.\" Cass said.

Jaxx groaned.

\"Shouldn\'t we be moving on? That torch won\'t last long.\" White Wolf interrupted.

\"Right!\" Jay said. \"Let\'s keep along. Cass and I will take the lead, White Wolf and Jacky in the middle, and Jaxx and Davie in the rear.\"

\"Wouldn\'t it make more sense to have Davie and Jaxx cover both ends? They\'re good at fighting, and I\'m not sure Cass is. I mean, without her robots, I mean.\" Jacky pointed out.

\"It\'s the captain\'s decision.\" Jay said.

\"Funny how that decision puts him right next to Cass.\" Jacky said to White Wolf, though louder than he expected.

Cass shot him a glare.

\"Don\'t you ever learn, Mr. Kong?\" White Wolf asked.

\"No I do not.\" he replied.
