Getaway

"Mr Chrysler, I'll go! You'll need the more combat-apt crew with you. My cover hasn't been blown yet" Artemis shot himself in his robotic arm, causing rust colored hydraulic fluid to show up on his shirt. "I'll pretend I'm looking for EMS!" Jay nodded. "Stay safe!" Artemis nodded and shambled off.

Jay let off a few more burst of fire, sending the SWAT team behind cover, then turned and ran as soon as the rear door of the security van slammed shut, Cass safe inside. He ran around to the drivers door, yanking the door open as his wife shambled over to the passenger side. He slammed the automatic gear box into ‘drive’ and stamped on the accelerator, the van’s rear wheels spinning futilely for a moment before gaining purchase and screeching off out of the Casino’s loading area. Reaching the road, he threw the wheel to the left, the van leaning sharply as it turned, and speeding along the main road.
“Jay…cops..” Katrina said, squinting to see through the swathe of flashing blue lights in the wing mirror.
“I see ‘em” he replied. “Gaining fast…”
The van lurched as it was impacted on the offside rear by one of the patrol cars, trying to force the van off the road, jolting sideways, Jay managing to regain control after a second.
“Smeg…smeg..smeg…he muttered, slamming his hand on the wheel. “We’ll never get away from them in this thing, it’s too slow…to clumsy…” the van jolted again.
“Kenneth…the pulse rifle…” Jay yelled into the back. Kenneth obliged and passed the weapon through the hatch into the cab, where Katrina took possession of it.
“Get ready…” Jay said as Katrina cocked the rifle.
At this, he yanked on the vans handbrake, and turned the wheel sharply, sending the van into a violent 180 degree spin, throwing everyone in the back bouncing across the compartment and slamming into the side as the van tilted harshly. The van now hurtled back toward the pursuing police, and Jay steered it between two oncoming patrol cars, which had no time to react to jays erratic manouvere their wing mirrors scraping along the side of the van as it did so. Up ahead, the pursurers skidded to a halt, turning side on forming a roadblock as the police officers within clamber out, taking cover behind their cars and aiming their firearms at the truck.
“NOW” Jay yelled, as Katrina leaned out of the window with the pulse rifle, firing blasts of energy at the cars, a single shot hitting each one, and causing it to explode, flying upwards into the air in a fireball. The cops scattered, and the armoured van ploughed through the roadblock unhampered.
“We need to ditch the truck!” Katrina said, settling back inside the truck.
“I know…but we need cars to get out of here…Kenneth, any ideas?”
Kenneth connected to the internet momentarily then said “Car dealership, next right”
“Got it..” Jay said, and took a sharp right and when the dealership came into view, he swung sideways, smashing into the showrooms front windows, braking hard in the van, until he came to rest, bumping into the back wall.
“Split up!” he ordered. “Eve, get Cass out of here” he grabbed a set of car keys off the hook behind the desk and tossed it to Evelina. “Kenneth, Kat…head in the opposite direction from them….I’ll try to lead the cops away…”
He threw another set of keys to Katrina, and grabbed a set for himself. Katrina tossed him the pulse rifle before turning and jumping into the drivers seat of a Camaro.
Jay clambered into a Corvette. “Rendevous in 3 hours at the Grand Canyon tourist centre…” he said, and screeched out of the showroom…”
<tag, Eve, Cass or Kenneth…or anyone else really!>
