Disaster

It hit him like a bolt of lightning. The idea. It was a genius plan. As long as the systems were still working.

“Risky.” He said aloud, calculating the possibilities at lightning speed. He zeroed in on the correct numbers and eyed up an access terminal on one of the roof gantries, it flickered weakly, somehow having survived the onslaught..

“Anything, Oh Mighy Headed one.” The Shaman said, begging at the feet of the projection. “Please end the rains.”

“This is the flood of tears your actions have caused.” Jade said, edging away from the edge of the pyramid and focusing on the light cast by Kenneth.

“I can stop the rain. However, controlling time has its cost.” Kenneth said, his words in the London accent of Holly. “I will have to leave you temporarily again. In my place I will leave an avatar through which you can talk to me.” Kenneth’s image flickered as he re-routed his processing time to hacking into the system he needed, routing the power and channelling the energies into the weather terminal in the gantry.

“If it is your will then it will be done.” The Shaman said, kneeling and clasping his hands together in front of him.

“Ke…Holly, is this… safe?” Jade said, worried.

“Not at all Doctor Black.” Kenneth whispered so only she would hear. “I’m planning on re-routing the stasis fields from the inactive pods to the tank fuelling the weather systems. I can maintain a solid link using the stasis generators for approximately 1 hour. After that then the water will begin to flow again. There will not be enough energy to keep the stasis pod active if I drain the reserves any longer. I understand that some of them are malfunctioning, hence why we are still seeing crew released now. Holly is unsure when they will all open. I believe leaving someone in a pod conscious with no way out is remarkably cruel. I would like to maintain their stasis if possible.” He concluded and returned from leaning over to stand upright again. He looked down at the Shaman and smiled.

“Just… Don’t freeze all of us, just the water.” Jade said, shuddering at the thought of being trapped frozen in a pod with no way out. Still seeing… still feeling… still thinking.

“Alright. You. What’s your name?” Kenneth asked the Shaman.

“I am called Akak'akakak, son of the Great warrior Kekeke.”

“Alright… Akak'akakak… With me my man. Raise me some power. Chant with me!”

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Holly Blue Dwarf wgah'nagl fhtagn" He began, the other Huzzards looking excptionally sceptical at the pronunciation and slowly picking up the words as Kenneth carried on.

As the voices began to ring out, the chant was taken up by the Huzzards one by one. The strange alien intonations, creating a tense atmosphere as the temperature in the room dropped by several degrees. Breath began to puff in little tufts of smoke and everyone began to feel slow and sleepy. Kenneth held up his arms to the sky a final ululation and a shout of triumph as his image flickered and guttered out. Everything went still, the little blue orb entering reboot mode, as Kenneth had overdone his output once again.

It was still wet, but the rain had stopped falling. Each drop was surrounded by a feint blueish glow, suspended in mid air, the arboretum looking like something from the ancient film Avatar. Far below, Jade could see the steps of the Huzzards eliciting a slight increase in the luminescence with each wet step. Children, hesitant at first, began to play in the still waters, throwing up waves with their little arms that froze in place. Akak’akakak looked up from his chanting and stood open mouthed at the power of his ‘deity.’ Keeneth flickered back into life, normal looking, nonchalant Kenneth. He grimaced slightly looking around.

“Not exactly what I had in mind but it’ll do.” He muttered. “Come now. We have business to attend to.” He clapped the chief on the shoulder and guided him towards the steps, gesturing Jade to follow. “There are several people that I believe need to go free now.”

There was an uneasy gathering of people around the re-lit central fire pit. Cyborgs, Huzzards and Humans all eyed each other warilly, Kenneth dfoing his best to keep the peace.

" And that is why, I need some of your strongest warriors. We can fix this. Return everything to normal. We just... Need a little help." Kenneth said, addressing the Shaman and the Cheif, finishing off his explanation as best he could to help them understand.

"As the Avatar of The Great Holly commands. So shall it be done." The Cheif said, slamming his staff on the ground to Huzzard cheers. Kenneth turned back to Jay and Cass. "See. Easy." He grinned.

"Stay here... Make sure they aren't going to do it again." Cass said, sizing up the nearest warrior for waek points.

"Sure thing Miss Jones." Kenneth replied and turned back to the Chief. "So tell me Ssss'lissssth. Tell me about your people." The AI, plonked himself down next to the Cheif Huzzard and listened.
