Rambling Advice

"Dante" he said running a hand through his hair.

"But I don't know if I'd say that." he said pulling up a chair and sitting like a 'hip' guidance counselor. "Music's like a book that's not been made into a movie yet." he started. "You picture stuff in your head one way, the writer another. Then they make a movie and it never lives up quite to what you see in your had." he shrugged. "Everyone sees something different when they close their eyes and listen. You and I'd see two different things even if some of the images had a through line. Like we could both see water but it wouldn't be the same image. I'd just make something vague and abstract. Like one of those magic eye deals, looks like nothing till you really zero in on it. Then you see something. Just make it what your heart feels not your brain."

Dante read her face seeing that he was rambling again. "Sorry I read a lot of physiology and philosophy books." he said. "Short version. Art doesn't come from the head it comes form the heart."
