Winning and Losing

(Day 3 - Takes place the same time as the girl's shopping)

Melissa was going to be gone for several hours and Doug wasn't happy about it. He had wanted to take her to the party he was going to tonight, to show her off but he had let her go. That didn't mean that he wasn't going to keep an eye on her, in a sense.

He was in his dorm room, getting ready when he texted her and found out she was trying on suits. He let his opinion be known, reminding her that she better do what he wanted.

Once that was done, he was on to the party.

The party was a town over; while it was being held by one of the richer people around, it was in a warehouse in one of the not-so-great sections of town. He had decided it might be best to invite some of the football players to go with him in case things went south. He left out the upper classroom and invited three freshmen who were trying to get into the elite table; they were three he could easily get in as they didn't associate with the scholarship kids. Still, he made it seem like coming with him and keeping quiet no matter what they saw would get them an in.

The poker game buy-in was $100,000 for the game he really wanted. He currently didn't have quite that much because he been spending it gambling, mostly online or on the game that was run on campus. There was a less expensive game. He could do $10,000 and win the $100, 000.

It took him about 2 hours but he had finally won enough to go into the higher stakes game. $100, 000 minimum. He started with that and kept winning. So, he kept bidding, more chips and more money changing hands. The rush was amazing as he bid $100,000, then $200, 000, then $500,000. He felt himself in a high, a frenzy, not wanting to stop.

Then the winning came to stop. $500, 000 became nothing in an instant as he had bet it all. Doug just knew he could win it back; he had to. He had no real collateral to put it, except, his car. He had one of the freshmen go to the car and get the title. He put his car up and got more chips.

The winning started again and he was back on top with $200, 000 which was still more than he had started with. A girl he knew only as Joyce came over and put her arm around him. Giving him a kiss on the cheek and whispering something in his ear.

He told the freshmen, he'd be back and left with her coming back, alone, thirty minutes later. All he told the freshmen was to remind them not to say anything to anyone about tonight and that it was time to go. He'd buy them some food at the diner on their way back to the school.
