Calm Meet Powder Keg

(Day 4: Beach party, Friday night.)
(Joint post with LaserSexPanther)

Doug had calmed down only a little by the time he got changed and went back to the music where Melissa was waiting for him. He had texted her and told her to be there.

When he got there he found her sitting back on their blanket, alone. He glanced around and then sat down. He grabbed her arm and pulled her in close. "There are far many too many people around but the conversation isn't over." Meaning about where she had been for so long because he clearly didn't believe her about the chaperone stopping her. He could feel her tensing up when he touched her but didn't care, as far as Doug was concerned, she had brought everything on herself.

He moved so he was sitting next to her and Melissa moved to stretch her legs. He looked down at her legs; in her shorts and her top. He leaned in and said. "You need to dress better. That shows off too much; too many guys are looking at you. Then again, you like that don't you....don't forget who you belong to." Mel said nothing.
Doug looked down over her thighs again and something caught his eye. He leaned over, picking a black hair, a long black hair, off of Melissa's thighs. "What is the hell is this?' He snapped at her. "You lied to me."

"Doug, it's nothing. I must have gotten it when I was getting my sweater. It must have been in the guest house."

"Bullshit." He stood up. "I know who this belongs to. I told you to stay away from Dante."

Doug stood up and stormed off.

Melissa, not thinking to get help, just scared for Dante ran after Doug but Doug was bigger and, as a football player, faster than her and he got ahead of her.

He took a breath and managed to pretend that he was just looking to talk to Dante long enough to find out where the other boy was. He stormed into the area he had heard Dante was. "Dante! Get your ass out here." His words teaming with anger.

Dante smacked his lips staring blankly at Doug, before standing up. Before saying a word he took a bite of the apple he was holding. Chewing it slowly for effect. Utter calm and indifference on his face. "Hey hotshot, to what do I owe the dishonor of your company." he said crunching into the apple again. Speaking with a half mouthful. "Take a breath big guy. Anger like that'll take years off your life." he gestured outwardly "You're on a beach man, take the stick out of your ass and enjoy ACTUALLY something for once. Lean back a bit, let the river carry you. You. Can't. Control. Everything." Dante gave a roguish shrug. "I bet you can't even enjoy yourself if you tried."

Doug was even more annoyed with Dante now, the other boy seemed to be smug, and mocking him. "Asshole. I know you were with Melissa earlier. She tried to cover but I know. Stay the hell away from her. " Doug might have not said the words but he was clearly insinuating he thought, maybe, more had happened than Mel and Dante talking. "You need to stay in your place, you shit."

"My place?" Dante asked, "And where might that be?" Dante raised an eyebrow at him, "You seem to be under some impression you know me." he said. "I can assure you, you've not even seen the tip of the iceberg yet." he told Doug. "Now you seem to be under some kind of impression you can tell me what to do. You have been misinformed." Dante tossed the finished apple core onto his blanket. "I don't care that you are a football player, I don't care what 'weight' your last name carries, and I certainly don't care how much money you have to your name to blow on whatever you want." Dante stared at him, "So if you've said what you want to say, cool beans, you can go now and I can ignore everything you just said to me and act like this silly little exchange never happened. Because again we are at the beach, I want to go get a drink and dance with some of the left outs and call it a night. Capeesh?"

Doug was now too angry for words. He removed his shirt. "I guess someone needs to teach you your place." He put up his fists and got ready to come at Dante.

Dante tossed his glasses to the blanket and kicked off his flipflops but seemingly didn't get ready for a fight. "You don't want to do this." Dante said, "I know you think you do but I don't think this is gonna go how you think it's gonna go."

"You're nothing but a hick; a nobody that thinks he's better than he is." Doug was about to charge at Dante when a female voice said, "Doug, stop."

He turned to see Melissa standing there, out of breath. She had apparently run all the way there. Her arrival there made him stop and he turned to look at her. "Get the hell out of here. This is your fault. You're a liar."

Melissa breathed hard for a few seconds and then said. "I'm sorry I lied." She was terrified of what would happen next but her fear of what Doug would do is what made her lie in the first place. Still, she knew she had to appease him.

Doug glared at Melissa. "I bet."

"We just talked. I swear." She was getting nowhere until she said. "If you fight him you'll be suspended."

Doug thought for a moment and realized that was true and then he would lose control of her, even for a short time he hated that idea. He went up to her and leaned over her, obviously, trying to intimidate her. He was satisfied it worked when she seemed nervous. "You ever lie to me again and it'll be worse than what happened tonight. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Doug."

"Good."

He then looked behind himself to where his shirt still lay on the ground. "Go pick up my shirt." Doug moved out of the way and she ran over and got his shirt handing it to him. He grabbed it from her hands and put it on then said, "Come on. You and I need to talk."

He walked a few paces in front of her, she turned around quickly and mouthed the words. "I'm sorry." To Dante before running to catch up to Doug.

As they walked away and she mouthed "I'm sorry" Dante mouthed "Don't worry about it."
