Injured but Alive

JP with mdman, Redsword, Dumont, Lasersexpanther and Cindy

"I've got you," Dumont said as he swiftly extended an arm to help Lady Elizabeth from collapsing. "Let us find a seat, non?"

They both sat down on a large spool with thick rope wound around it as newcomers approached. Two hulking figures braced a much smaller one. As they reached the light, everyone could see that it was Gemma Aberly and two large orcs, closely followed by Baron Greenwood's assistant, Elise.

Gemma slowed as she neared the scene of the brawl, "By Michael Thomas!" She hesitantly stepped forward. "Is everyone alrigh'?!"

Sasha stood and nodded. "I can't speak for anyone else but I'm fine. Just need some rest." she said, holstering both guns, and making sure her harpe was stowed away. Sasha dug in a pocket until she came out with a small cloth bag, taking out what looked like a single bead, before walking over to Liz. "Lady Elizabeth I realize you can heal yourself given time, but this should help to mitigate the pain in the mean time." she held out open hand with the bead in it. "A pill for pain. I understand if you do not want or require it just say the word."

Standing next to Dumont and Elizabeth. Sung also helped them sit. "Mr. Dumont, let me see what I can do for you," said Sung placing a hand on Dumont's shoulder. Closing his eyes He mumbles some words as some sweat beads on his forehead.

Sung new healing would take some time. Sung's hand had a white hue as some of the worst injuries started to heal. Sung opened his eyes "That should help but you will be stiff from the healing." explained Sung.

"Mis Sasha the problem with taking medication for pain is it breaks are concentration for the use of healing magic. so for us, it could be a hindrance unless we are at our end of stamina or magic force. In my case, KI" explained Sung now sounding more tiered.

Sung did now respond to Gemma. "Is everyone all right? That is a strange question." Sung sounded a bit upset. "I would say NO!, Lady Elizabeth and the team are injured a little help would be nice," said Sung not sounding to happy.

Sasha gave a passive shrug and turn away from the group slipping a two fingers under her mask and taking the pill before turning back. "If that is true then I am sorry for asking. It is all natural but likely that does not matter." Sasha said.

"Miss, Lagrave do not get offended. I was just explaining our situation to you. If Lady Elizabeth or Mr. Dumont wish to take you up on your offer it is up to them and I greatly appreciate the offer, madam." said Sung in a apologetic tone.

Elise was sensing an odd tension, but not surprising, given what she could only assume had occurred. Still, she decided to just help, rather than commenting about something she knew nothing about. "Lady Elizabeth," Elise did notice that Elizabeth seemed unusually quiet. "Why don't I get you, at least, to where we can get you home?" As she walked closer to her long time friend. "I have a vehicle waiting that can get everyone back to your house." She gently put her hand on Elizabeth’s rib, "Broken?"

Elizabeth nodded, it was likely easy to tell she wasn't in the best shape to be attempting to heal herself, at the moment. A kind of warm, tingling feeling spread throughout Elizabeth’s rib cage, as Elise concentrated on the area. The pain subsided enough for Elizabeth to speak.

"Miss Lagrave," Elizabeth hadn't even realized she had been so, not herself, a few minutes ago when she had used less formal names when addressing people. "I do appreciate the offer, and there is no way you could have known." Sung was half correct. Medications such as morphine, aspirin and such did affect Elizabeth’s ability to heal herself. Certain herbs could be used, without that being the case. However, it was only partially due to magic that Elizabeth couldn't necessarily take many medications, Eldren's bodies were just different than humans. Most medications, herbal or not weren't really designed for Eldren. There were, of course, some exceptions but most Eldren mostly relied on magic to heal, and might have a limited supply of herbs that could be used and would actually have some effect.

The Eldren, noticed the pain wasn't gone completely but certainly dampened a great deal. "Miss Gemma, thank you for your concern. I believe, as injured as we are, things could be much worse." She didn't have it in her, at the moment, to come up with the best way to say that.

Elise looked around, Dumont had been helped by Sung and Sung could help himself. Sasha didn't seem that bad off. Then there was Cronk, who looked beat up, even for an Orc. "Mr. Cronk could you use some help?"

Cronk stretched his sore muscles, taking in a deep breath to fill his lungs. His ribs balked at this, but gave way to the expanding lungs. This helped Cronk to feel better.

The abrasions and bruising on hand were oozing, but not life threatening. He grinned. It was a welcomed challenge. With Quinn, everything was easy. Nothing was a challenge. Maybe , just maybe, Cronk had gotten soft because of it. He realized that he must work harder at building strength. Maybe Pretty Flower would need help lifting heavy things in her shop.

“Cronk good,” he solemnly affirmed. “Lady Elizabeth need help.”

Gemma blushed a little with a sheepish frown. Sometimes she could come off as stupid the way she talked.

“Well now, Mr Sung, I mean’ no offense and I’m not so dim to see with me own two eyes yer not alright. Jus’ worried and surprised is all. I’m well aware tha’ injuries and death can occur on these sorts of jobs, in fact, we came prepared fer it’.”

She knew it well as she thought of her dearly departed brother who was killed on Dumont’s last team.

“Can’t blame a gal fer worryin’. But I’m ‘appy to see yer all still ver’ical and among the livin’. I wasn’t lookin’ forward to puttin’ ye on ice if ye take my meanin’.”

Gemma was a little flustered at Sung’s annoyed tone but immediately forgave him. She was not the type to harbor a grudge and she knew that his frustrations stemmed from the pain and stress of the whole ordeal. She looked down at the fallen hulk.

“Poor lad.”

Gemma gave a nod to the orcs who started the task of picking up the corpses on stretchers for refrigeration in the truck she had driven to the scene.

Elizabeth assumed Gemma had the MQ-12, otherwise known as the Morque Truck or Camion Morgue though some of the more order members called it just Mort. It was a refrigeratorated steam-powered van, with containers in the back for holding dead bodies. The containers could be adjusted as needed for the bodies. by removing the ends and attaching more containers for larger bodies or placing the ends in different slates for shorter bodies. No adjustment and the containers fit an average of about 5 - 7 ft. The containers could also be removed and hooked up to steam-power, the morgue at headquarters had drawers to hold theses boxes, but really they could be brought to anywhere with a way to connect to steam power.

"Miss Gemma, if you could let Baron Greenwood know that I do not want the body touched until I have a chance to speak to Dr. Jackal, I would be most grateful to you." Elizabeth was thinking it would be easier to have the body in Jackal's lab but arrangements would have to be made for that

Elizabeth glanced once more towards the spirit, she hadn't gotten his name or any information but it could wait. She retrieved her broach from Dumont.

Elise then said, "Why don't all of you follow me, so, we can get you home."

“Of course, my Lady.” Gemma responded and followed the orcs to assist with the opening of the compartments on the truck.

Dumont stretched his neck and rolled his shoulders, already feeling a little bit better. He took a deep breath and followed the Eldren.

Cronk watched the others begin to follow Lady Elizabeth and Elise. He looked at the hand, seeming to still almost feel the chill. He had felt nothing quite like that before. He started to think of all the new experiences he has had since joining the team. He was certain more were to come.

“Want Cronk carry body?” he inquired.

Elizabeth left the decision of Cronk helping with the Orcs, who seemed to grunt at the request.

"If Cronk want to, can help." One of the Orcs commented.

The body was loaded into the morgue van, with the Gemma and the two Orcs that had come with her. Elizabeth thanked them before they left.

The team, and Elise got into the other van, which was more than large enough to accommodate everyone. Elizabeth spotted the driver, and shook her head. "Mr. Marcil, we are certainly keeping you busy today."

Mr. Marcil smiled at Elizabeth, "You're team is interesting. Everyone made it out?" The bus driver inquired.

"Yes, thank you." Elizabeth responded. Between driving the team to headquarters this morning and showing up now, she half wondered if the man had requested to drive her team around but she didn't ask, instead finding her seat, near the front if the bus.

Cronk helped the other orcs to carry bodies to the vehicle. Whenever he could be of use, he wanted to do his part.

When the bodies had been loaded, Cronk quietly stepped up onto the nos with the others. The work had been melancholy for Cronk, not because of the major fight, but because so many innocent people had gotten either hurt or killed. It confirmed Cronk’s vow to kill the evil doctor. He kept this inward, not wanting to share his thoughts.

Smiling at the others, Cronk sat at the very back of the bus. The seat was larger, plus he could keep his feet in the middle of the aisle. He was glad everyone was still alive. He didn’t like that there were injuries. More to hold against the evil doctor. If he hadn’t injected the dock worker, they would not have had to step in to protect others.

Cronk lay his head back against the window. His head still hurt, but the oozing had long stopped, forming scabs near the top of the back of his head. A long hot, steaming shower is what Cronk needed now. Something to take the blood and sweat off his body.

Since Lady Elizabeth was still worn out from the fight. Sung stood outside the door of the Bus until everyone was on board accounting for everyone on the team. It was habit to him from being a military commander for years and the battles and wars fought. Sung was taught by his Father to look after his men they were the greatest asset to the company or team. Losing just one could tip a battle later.

After Cronk climbed on board the bus Sung followed. He thought it was interesting that the bus would lean to one side when Cronk got on the bus. Sung took his seat behind Elizabeth he was also worn out there would still be work to be done when they got back to the house. As the bus drove Sung also wondered what the Baron would say about all of this. Sung hoped that he would not have to hear anything until the next day Sung was not in the mood to deal with the Baron.
