Painful Memories

Once the evaluation began, Cynthia stepped to the corner of the room in order to try and give Sophia and the telepath space and some sense of privacy. Her heart dropped slightly when she noticed a tear run down the telepaths cheek, despite her being completely zoned in on evaluating Sophia. Cynthia resisted the urge to stop the evaluation all together and just let the white haired girl into the society - though she didn't want anyone to see or experience harmful memories, it was the only process they had in place to protect their society.

After a few silent minutes passed, the telepath took a few steps back and wiped a tear from her face. She turned towards Cynthia with anything but a smile and shook her head; "She isn't a risk and in my opinion, should be let in the society. If anyone can keep a secret, it's her. Now - " She walked up to Cynthia and lowered her tone to a whisper, still fighting back tears; "Take these memories away from me... and don't let Malik near her - and protect that girl at all costs."

Cynthia tilted her head slightly so that she could see Sophia and the wolf; "I think she's pretty well guarded by her companion." she said with a soft smile. Turning her attention back towards the telepath, she placed her fingertips against the girls forehead. Her eyes glowed with a reddish-gold color as her power surfaced; "Now sleep."

The telepath dropped immediately, her body limp and seemingly lifeless. Cynthia caught her and gently placed her on the floor. "Sophia - don't tell anyone what you're about to see please. A lot of the people in the society fear my kind still, so they don't all know what I am." She said, not taking her eyes off the telepath. She placed two hands above the sleeping telepaths head, hovering just a few inches above her skin, and closed her glowing eyes. A blue wispy stream of energy flowed from the girls head and vanished around Cynthia's hands. Placing her fingertips gently on the girls forehead again, Cynthia opened her eyes and whispered "wake up."

"Well, if you're ready and willing, there's plenty of people down here to try and be friends with. You're always welcome to mingle when you have a chance - the nurses are extremely friendly.... except Fran. Fran is a bit of a hard ass." Johnathan said, subtly motioning to a woman with short black hair sitting with a small group of 3 other nurses. He chuckled when Fran flipped him off from across the room. "She's a good person to play cards with though. If you like losing... that is."
Johnathan stood up, taking his plate and utensils with him; "If you're done, I can grab your plate too. There's no rush though." He said with a calm expression, and more of a smile than his usual hint of one.
