12 O'Clock High

Victoria rolled over onto her stomach and aimed at Davie, bullet’s slammed into the metal ships, narrowly missing him by inches. The ground shook violently as Blue Dwarf sent laser bolts smashing into the airfield and parking lot. Davie took off away from the Midgets, looking for some cover that would protect him from friendly fire as well as enemy.

"Positions! Brace for insertion!"
One or two of the accompanying marines snickered at this as the bug looped over into deceleration, inertial dampers kicking in hard
"Oh shit" Cass moaned, scrambling over towards a vacant acceleration couch
<End Snip>
Davie dropped to the ground behind a large pile of cargo crates across from the entrance to the unmarked building containing the Castillo portal to Jupiter. He looked over, out of breath and with only a half clip of ammo, at a dozen or so Space Corps Marines that had failed to noticed him, and were gathering quickly around in a circle, looking up and pointing their guns at the sky. Davie followed their gazed and smiled.
A green Star Bug came floating quickly down towards the ground. It landed with the heavy clatter of metal on concrete. The Marines lined up around it, slightly confused at its seemingly sudden appearance. Davie noticed a small object that dropped drop out of one of the Bug’s lower extraction hatches, only to explode barely a moment later, sending shrapnel and flesh flying.
A unit of Blue Dwarf’s renegade marines and security personnel, led by Rosette, came running down the ramp. Davie ducked low and ran towards them. “That was easy.” Efof said above the gun fire. “They probably don't want too many guards here, it'll look suspicious.” Rosette said in reply.
As Davie ran up, two large robots standing next to Cass train menacing weapons on him. He stopped, his reflexes twitching his arms to send his rifle up to take aim, but he stopped himself as they lowered their guns. “What the hell are those?”
“Nice to see you too!” Cass said, shrugging. Davie watched as the robots mimicked the movement in perfect unison. He frowned, and was about to inquire further, when one of them spun and fired a small rocket and unleashed a devastating barrage of bullets at a couple of Space Corps Marines running through the adjacent airfield. “Never mind, I’ll ask later.” he said, turning his attention to Rosette, “Any extra gear you can spare?”
She nodded to a BD Marine at the top of the ramp, and he tossed a combat vest, loaded with gear, and an assault rifle. “Let’s move!” Rosette ordered and the landing party moved quickly towards the entrance of the building.

They pushed forward and found the room with the toilet, that Davie had found on his recon mission.
“A toilet?” Rosette said, “Is this it?”
“Actually guys, I do need to go... so... could you all just wait outside?” Efof said unzipping his flies.
“There's no time for that!” Davie said, and flushed the toilet to open up the secret passage.
The shining portal shimmered with the same oranges and browns as the surface of Jupiter. “It leads straight into the HQ.” Rufus said, holding up his Psi-scanner.

Just as they group had begun to approach the portal, a laptop sitting on a small collapsible table switched on to show the silhouettes of the furry JMC Directors. “So close, yet so far!” said in menacing unison. Rosette, Davie, and Rufus stepped up to the console. Beneath the table dozens of tiny light flickered to life and they stepped back to see a mountain of Incinerex blocks, one of the most powerful legally obtainable explosives. A timer appeared at the bottom of the screen that begun to count down from 10. Efof went wide eyed.
“This is enough explosives to destroy half of Callisto, including the portal.” The Board of Directors explained. Cass spun round, and Rufus raised his Psi-scanner.
9
Davie bent low to examine the computer and explosives, Efof wrapped all four of his arms around his head and curled up in a ball on the floor. “As you've all already resigned, this probably won't mean much to you, but we're going to say this anyway...” the Directors continued, and Davie noticed the laptop was using a wireless connection.
8
“You're all fired.” the Directors finished, and they leaned back into their seats to watch the demise of their enemies in live action. Efof let out a high pitched whimper, Davie looked at the other side of the computer and saw a thick series of black cords leading off from it.
7
“Good bye.” said the Directors and Davie bent down to see the underside. Rufus tried desperately to stop tripping on his own thoughts and to organize them quickly.
6
Davie traced his hand along the wires plugged into the backs of the Incinerex blocks to find they all led to the laptop. “Well guys, it’s been fun.” Cass said, the countdown switched from 6 to 5, and the two death spitting metal machines behind her dropped to the floor and sat cross legged.
4
Efof began to sob louder, Rufus pushed his brain as fast it would go, Cass slowly shook her head, Rosette suddenly felt an indescribably powerful sense of nostalgia, and KAI sent a message back to his kit on Blue Dwarf to start assembling his next body.
3
Davie’s heart pounded in his head, all other sounds seemed deafened by it. The blood rushed through his veins and his breathing jumped high, then slowed as he was alerted to a sudden sense of calm washing over him. Time seemed to slow. The only thing he saw was the cords coming out of the laptop.
2
“Rush instillation, cut it KAI!!” he shouted urgently at the android to his right. He breathed his last rights in case he was wrong. The android’s arm spun open to reveal a razor sharp, spinning buzz saw.
1
The saw came down in a dazzlingly fast blur of gleaming white plastic and highly polished steel. The cords sparked, bright and blinding.
0.573 seconds, the timer read, frozen in place. The lights on the Incinerex blocks died into darkness and the room was silent. It took Davie a moment to push his way through the frightful numbness and butterflies. “Oh…shit.” the Directors announced, shocked and in unison. The screen flickered off.
Davie let out a sigh. Everyone in the room smiled, as the unusually high rush of adrenaline in their blood streams calmed down and wore low. “Dude?” Cass said, herself surprised. “What did I miss?” asked Efof from the floor.
“Good job.” Rosette congratulated him. “Umm...thank me later, I’m still a little to petrified to take any of the love right now.” Davie replied jokingly, although still shaken. A moment later they were heading through the portal with their landing party of BD Marines.

“Commander,” started Victoria as she stuffed a few more grenades into her jacket, “you stay here and do what you can to help win the battle,” she popped a fresh magazine into her rifle, “Me my men will go after the landing party that went through the portal.”
Fifi nodded, crumpling the now empty package of cigs and tossing it to the floor before loading her own rifle. “Of course Captain.” she said, the cigarette in the corner of her mouth bouncing with each word, “Good luck.”
“Alright, let’s move!” Victoria ordered the two Scythers by the office door and the dozen or so genetically mutated hybrid Marines. They moved across the base quickly to the unmarked building containing the Callisto Portal.

<Tag! Now we get to end this thing! Well, maybe…with our luck…(Oh, and try not kill Victoria, I might have some plans for her later character later.) >
<OOC – Haha! Thank you very much for the award! That was the last thing I was expecting! Thanks!>
