NEVER Vote for Phi!

"Please, please, please don't vote for me to be Captain!" Phi blurted out loudly, disrupting the various conversations of the nearby crew. She had her eyes closed tightly and she was holding two clenched fists in the air as if fighting off invisible creatures.

"We hadn't planned on it, Miss Moreau," said Niples, wiping a small drop of wine from a lapel.

"I don't like dirt and so many planets are covered in it," she continued, failing to hear Seymour. "It's not that I don't like dirt. Well actually it is. I don't like dirt. It also scares me. How could I lead away missions when everywhere around me would cause me to panic?
I suppose you could blindfold me and force me to wear cotton wool in my ears and nose. This would block out all of the bad, bad, badness. No dirt in my face, no germs in the air."

"And how would you coordinate anything?" asked Cassandra, entertaining the odd idea of a deaf, mute and blind commander.

"I could set up a sonar device. Like a dolphin."

"A dolphin?" asked Jay. "An oceanic mammal?"

"No. That wouldn't work!" said Phi, her fists angrily waving about and her eyes still closed.

The crew stared at her, wondering if perhaps she was about to have a mental breakdown right in front of them. She certainly seemed like the type.

"What if I had one eye half open half of the time? Minimise the germ contact. Like this?" She squinted at everyone through her right eye whilst bunching up part of her sleeve and stuffing it over her mouth and nose. She took the other one and wrapped it partially around her head, covering her ears.

"Like this," she tried to say through the medical coat. It came out like 'Mmmphd Ids'. She walked around a little and began naming things on the floor to prove it wouldn't hinder her abilities.

"Are you trying reverse psychology on us, Miss Moreau?" asked Niples.

"No no no!" she said, letting go of her sleeves. "I really want to be out of that particular race."

"Trust me, Miss Moreau. We don't wish for another Captain Cannon incident. You can remain our medical doctor treating all manner of medicalities."

"Thank you!" she said, beaming. "Speaking of being a doctor, is it possible to head to the medibay? I know there are most definitely items there I would prefer to have on my person. So far we have all been exceptionally lucky and should anything happen to us I want to have as much equipment on me to mend us all."

"That's the first coherent and sensible thing you've said today," said Cassandra. "Holly, is the medical area still under quarantine?"

"What's a quarantine?" Holly asked. "Nah, only joking. I know what a quarantine is."

"Well?" piped up Jay.

"Well what?"

"The medibay?"

"Oh that. I'm not sure. It looks all right, but it does border on the dangerous zones. There's probably a safe-ish route there but I can't tell you what that is."

"Oh," mumbled Phi. She straightened herself up. "Well despite that, I need to get to the Medibay. Umm...I mean, can I, Captains?" she said, looking between Jay and Seymour.
