I don't have time to *Engine Roar* around!

For those unaffected so far by the Failsafe and virus, the race was continuing. Virus-infected karts were tearing up the track, sending candy spray up into the air, which was popping as it landed on the track.

Jammy gritted his teeth, pulled some goggles over his eyes, and put the pedal to the floor. The popping candy began to get worse, the virus was spreading to the world itself, which could only spell doom for the remaining racers, not that there were many left.

Jammy could see on his mini-map that Silky Eve and Gummy Jaxx had stopped up ahead. His head in the race, he didn't care why they had stopped, only that it was a chance to get ahead. His one remaining curly-wurly track was digging into the ground, giving him uneven traction, but more than enough speed. He was gaining on the virus kart ahead of him, and making full use of the jawbreaker wheels he had.

He accelerated past the beastly metal machine. As he did, his mini-map flashed up to say he was now in Third place.

"Yes! Podium finish!" he said, excitedly.

The metal machine slammed into the side of him, tearing the final curly wurly away from his jawbreakers. He was sliding on jawbreaker wheels only now, and slightly slower than normal.

As he watched the curly wurly fly off to the side of the track and into a ditch filled with liquid chocolate, he slammed his own car back at the metal monstrosity, making use of the Jawbreakers. It spun for a moment, and let him get ahead.

Then, as he turned a corner, his jawbreakers lost traction again, and he began to slide around the corner, wooping loudly at the maneuver. He passed by several people stood at the side of the track, at least one of them was an adult, and he stopped smiling for a moment as he recognised them.

"What were Gummy, Silky, Lemon and Bakewell doing with that adult?" he said to himself, then he looked in his rear view mirror, and saw the metal monstrosity stop and aim its machine guns at them.

Something snapped inside him, and his car slid around to face the way he had come. The Failsafe kicked in, and instead of a cake shaped car, his chocolate wedge became more sleek, turned red and lifted off the ground. Laser cannons appeared at the front, and he grinned, having grown to his adult form again.

"Born to be wild." He said, and hit the accelerator, bursting back up the road, lasers blasting at the metal car that was just about to start firing. Each laser blast tore a chunk from it, and soon turned it to molten slag.

He stopped his hover-bike in front of the children, and got out, checking them over.

"Good timing, soldier." Jay said.

"Soldier? It's me, Jamie." replied Jamie, "Somethin' on your mind?"

"Artemis has got the Keystone." Jay said, talking like his in-game persona again. "We need to get these kids to everyone else, so we can fight Artemis and get the Keystone back." He added, and looked at the bike.

"That thing safe enough to carry all the kids? It'll be faster if we can borrow you bike." Jay added, then looked down at the kids. "They'll never be able to walk all the way."

"Watch out for the little girl there." Jay said, indicating Lemon. Jamie looked at him, and blinked several times.

"What girl?" Jamie said, looking where Jay had indicated. The only girl there was Eve, and she was on his other side, with Jaxx.

"This girl." Jay said, patting Alex on the head, now that he had managed to stand up from his sugar induced coma.

Jamie turned back to Jay. "Y'know we got a saying where I come from: Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me... no, wait a minute. Shame on you... twice, for foolin' me on... Ah, screw it, let... let's just be friends."

Jay gave him a blank stare for a moment, then waited as Jamie stepped back towards his bike.

"Climb aboard." Jamie said, getting back into the seat of his Vulture bike. Soon, everyone was onboard, and it was hovering a bit closer to the ground.

"The Road's callin'" he said, and they all darted off to the directions given by Jay.

It wasn't long before they approached some large structures, that looked nothing like the rest of candy world. They were huge, metal, and churning out machines, or power suits for people that were bustling about.

Jamie swung his bike up towards one of the largest buildings, assuming it was the main base. A large group of marines with rifles stepped out, and flagged him down.

"Come with us." the marines said, and they were forced to follow...
