"Right, and I'm a pre-school astrology teacher....." before South could reply, Artemis continued with Jay. "....in addition....I have a doctorate in Political Science, other than rounding out my degree count to an even 12, I have a complex understanding of political structure from complex entities like the Space Corps to lower-intelligence tribal groups like the Huzzards"

Artemis looked around the group. "So, what should I wear?"

Jay and Artemis started going back and forth on the nuances of negotiation with a reptilian species inhabiting the ship's gardens when South's wrist buzzed slightly. He looked down at his watch and saw it's face turn fuzzy and crackle with static. "What's that?" Ransom asked inquisically. "It's my wristwatch."

"Why is it doing that?"

"It's also programed to pick up news broadcasts of any era with technology to send out signals, but it's not working right."

He twiddled the ring around the watch face and the transmission went dark. "Hmph." he said letting his hand drop back to his side, "Must be an old broadcast."

Little did either of them realize, the broadcast was more recent than they would have thought, and would have gone something as follows:

"And in more recent news," said an automated female newscaster dressed in shiny 80's style clothing, her metallic face glinted softly under the studio lights, "the seven star 'Reality Resort' came under attack yesterday, and was destroyed by a band of pirates who posed as guests before unleashing a demented computer virus on the resort's systems, and raiding the cargo bay for it's food stasis containers. The pirates destroyed the platform using some kind of delayed explosion using the resorts system, which was installed before making good their getaway. Our on scene correspondent had this to say."

The camera feed then switched to a holographic journalist, who was standing on a self propelled space projector among the wreckage. "Thanks Camille. I'm standing here at the scene, and as you can see behind me, the damage to the resort is immeasurable, there is literally nothing left. These pirates were very thorough in their attempt to cover their tracks. No CCTV footage or records are left after the explosion, and the only eye witness account we have is from an android called Grovely, who's nega-drive overloaded, unfortunately before he could finish recounting his story to us. Fire crews, and emergency technicians did the best they could to restore his systems, but at this time it is not expected for his to recover."

The camera feed switched back to the news room. "Thank you, Peter." she said before concentrating on the text feed in her sensors, "There are currently no descriptions of the pirates or their ship, and investigators have yet to turn up any leads."

She paused for a moment on receiving new information. "And in other news, Emperor Laka'wa'ka 'Ha of the GELF world Ze'we doodle, has declared today galactic margarita day, raising health concerns that the new celebration might lead to increased alcohol consumption among the already constantly inebriated. Here, joining us on the subject is GELF health expert, Dr. Wammy Bar. Doctor?"

Ransom looked at South's watch again and noticed the screen had flickered back on. He tapped South on the elbow and pointed. "Thanks." he said and switched it off.

<<OOC - >>

We (meaning David, I think) had this idea on the facebook page about doing a news broadcast style post every now and then to update people on whats been happening. This is just a test for the idea. I was hoping to make it a thing that an android or Holly does on the ship, but we're in low power mode, so I wanted to make it fit in somehow. Let me know what you think, 'cuz it's still a rough idea.

Should write Tag? Nothing really happened so I don't know if I should tag. Oh, what the hell...
