Glad You're Back

Matt had just finished getting his stuff to his room and helping his sister, Kaylee, move into hers; Something he needed to get special permission for but it wasn't hard to get for moving his sister into her room.

Once that was done, he left his sister with her roommate and Matt went to his room to move his own stuff in. Apparently, his roommate left his side open and took care of the refrigerator and a nice TV. good, less stuff he had to bring down here himself.

He had been informed about the beach party and already had plans to go to that. He got himself cleaned up and changed so he could head to breakfast but it was actually still a little early. First, he needed a better coffee than the cafeteria would offer and so he headed to the coffee cart. He didn't really expect to see anyone he knew until he got to the cafeteria but was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar female with long brunette hair that was pulled back.

He quietly walked up behind her, which was easy because she seemed to be thinking about something. "Bonjour, Belle Dame."

Courtney had been thinking about stuff and wasn't really expecting anyone to approach her so she jumped a little when to someone coming up behind her but upon hearing the voice and the French words, she knew who it was. She turned around and gave him a fleeting smile.

"When you get here? I was starting to think that Europe had swallowed you whole or something." Courtney was glad to see her friend it felt like it had been a long time.

"This morning. Then I had to get my sister moved in before I could move in." He smiled at her but it felt as if something was wrong. "Our flight got delayed coming back from London. It was days of delays." He paused for a moment. "Are you OK? I mean if it's none of my business that's fine."

"Yeah, I mean...I don't really want to talk about it."

"It's Ok." Then changing the subject. "I have something to show you."

That intrigued Courtney and he led her to the parking lot and to a custom-built black and red Harley Davidson Low Rider 2 Her mouth dropped for a moment before walking around the bike, checking out every part of it, her longest amount of time spent looking at the engine.

After a few minutes, she looked up at him. "This is really nice."

"Thanks." He paused "It's still early. We have plenty of time before first period. You want to go for a ride?"

Courtney hadn't gotten changed into her uniform, yet because she knew she had plenty of time to do that. "Do you think I would say no to that offer?"

"Wait here a minute." He ran off coming back just a few moments later with two motorcycle helmets and handed her one. "I let the office know." Matt told her.

They got on the bike, got their helmets on and went on their way. Matt knew that Courtney had ridden on a bike plenty of times and didn't need to give her any instructions.

They made their way into town. Courtney loved this. She couldn't wait to have her own motorcycle one day, hopefully soon. It might be more of a fixer upper than this one but she loved that kind of stuff.

They landed in front of a little cafe that was only opened for breakfast and lunch and brunch on the weekend. Matt and Courtney got off the bike and took their helmets off, which Matt locked to the bike.

"Do you want to eat inside or out?" He asked her.

"Out. In the garden." She replied

The garden was a little area out in the back with a few trees, flowers and a fountain. It was really nice back there and not as noisy as inside the little restaurant. On the weekends, there was always a line and the wait could be over an hour but during the week they were't nearly as busy. They were seated within 5 minutes and gave their drink offer which amounted to two cappachinos. They order their food. Courtney got a omlette florentene and Matt got a western omlette.

"So, any news I should know about.' He was't asking for gossip but instead anything he might need to know.

"Did you hear about the beach party?" she replied

"Yes. I'm signed up to go. Kaylee is going as well." Matt had missed her, a lot. While Europe had been fun it had also been a very long summer.

Courtney took a sip of her coffee and a bite of her food, eating it before continuing, "There is two groups going shopping today. A group of the girls and a group of guys."

"What are the guys shopping for?"

"From what I understand; Conner, Heath and JD decided take the nerds shopping to get some stuff to wear to the beach party." She paused. "They got some other guys to go with them but I'm not exately sure who."

"Maybe, I should show up just to see that." He smiled.

She then said. "You met JD right?"

"Oui, I met him over the summer, before I left for Europe."

Courtney nodded. It was good to see him and she was suddenly not feeling so much like a fifth or seventh? Wheel. There was some other catching up but Courtney basically would let Conner, JD and Heath fill Matt in on their lives. She did mention that Rose was back and that she would have to introduce him to some of the newer people. After they talked some more, finished their food and coffee it was time to go back.

Getting back to the school, took no time and she hugged him and thanked him for the ride. "I'm glad you're back."

"Thanks. I'm glad to be back." He flashed her a smile. "Do you feel better?" He didn't like that she had been upset; even if he didn't know what it was about.

"Yes, I do." The motorcycle ride helped but it was nice to just be out with him; away from the school and the cafeteria and Heath and Sam. "Thanks." With that she was off to get cleaned up and changed into her uniform and so was he.
