Stand Back!

Any further rejoinder was prevented by one of the blue “demons” suddenly emerging from a side tunnel a little further down, its massive form virtually filling the tunnel beyond, it’s muscular arms holding two human sized, wild eyed and grey skinned bipedal creatures back on leashes
It barked something in an unrecognised, guttural tongue and let go of the grey creature’s leashes

Garth stepped forward, armed raised. His fingers were held tightly together, ready to snap. "Stand back," he shouted in a deep voice. Plisken herded everyone back, using his limp metal arm to guide them. Then with a thundering clap Garth snapped his fingers. An orange bolt of energy lept from his finger tips and sped through the air. Within seconds the bolt erupted into a violent flame, burning the grey beasts to ashes. Garth then thumped a fist onto the ground, sending large spicked rocks from the ground up into the blue monster.

"Plisken, protect them," said Garth as he ready another flame. Plisken nodded his head in acknowledgement.

"I may be old but I can still fight better than any of you lot," said Plisken to the crowd of Dwarfers. Plisken hurried them away from the tunnel were the monsters came from, leaving Garth to fend them off.

Garth snapped his fingers fuirously, flame scorching the ever growing mob of monsters. Sweat covered his face. He hadn't fought this hard since the time Plisken roped him into joining him at the battle of Wolf 359. But Garth dimissed this thought, not wanting to get distracted.

Plisken ran down the tunnels, everyone following his lead.

"Can you really leave him by himself?" asked Cass as they sped away from the scene.

Plisken shrugged, "Probably."

From somewhere above them a large hole burst open, sending rocks flying everywhere. Plisken dived on Cass, throwing her away from a large rock that could have killed her. He muttered her dazed thanks but Plisken was already at the mouth of a monster, plunging his sword up into its brain.

"Go!" he shouted as he swung his sword at the belly of a beast. Some of the Dwarfers took flight, some were more hesitent. Plisken shouted again but was cut off by a clawed fist smashing his side. He was sent flying into the tunnel wall and he felt some bones crack and his metal arm was definetly beyond use- not that it had been much use. Plisken dropped to the floor and his sword scattered along the rocks.

<So who wants to stay and fight?>
