I'm a Barbie Girl...

Jaxx nervously replied, “No no no Eve babe. It’s totally not like that. Can you keep talking? Your voice helps me stay calm.” Evelina blushed as she replied, “Awwwww that’s so sweet. So what did you want me to talk about?” Jaxx replied, “How about your favorite shows since its totally gonna be a long swim.” Evelina then began telling Jaxx about her favorite soap opera from the beginning as he swam the deadly currents of the rising water.

Group one split once the water level was low enough that they could forge on away to the medical labs and areas. Jade was secretly quite jealous about the whole high tech medical units that she wouldn't get to see or use. Hopefully, the others would be able to bring back some more kit that was usable by normal people.

Jaxx lay half in half out of the water, exhausted from the strong currents. The storm raged about the Dwarfers as they began to untie the ropes and split to cause mayhem. As they did an especially strong gust of wind broke through the group.

Artemis was thrown into a vent by a gust of wind. He plummeted down several stories, rammed into the walls countless times, and was thrown out into an unknown area of the outpost.

"Well damn..." Jamie mumbled. As everyone wondered where the man had ended up.

"Can anyone here that?" Worried Jacky. He was stoutly ignored.

"We have to get moving people. We can't just stay here." Jade said, unholstering the pulse rifle that had been haned to her and checking through the safties.

"No seriously... Like a wooshing roaring sound..." Jacky said looking up the hill in the burrow towards the sound.

"What are you...?" The rest of Jade's sentance was lost as a monumental wave of water rolled down the steep slope they were resting on. It ate up the ground like a mole on speed. The churning boiling water taking away any sound with it's crashing din.

Jade woke up later. She wasn't sure how much later, but the half hour timer was beeping.

"So much for the plan..." She groaned, trying to sit up. There was a series of surprised squeaks.

"It's awake!" One high pitched voice said.

"What?" Jade grumbled, opening one eye. The light streaming in and causing her to blink rapidly.

"Do something!" A second voice squeaked.

"No way! This was your idea!" The first replied.

"What?" Jade asked again. Confused and opening both eyes this time.

"But it's a wild one! It might hurt us!"

"Don't worry I took away it's weapons." Jade looked about, noting the two small creatures in front of her. Roo children? Her bag and gun were no where to be seen. She looked like she was in some kind of storage room. Boxes lining the shelved walls. Attempting to move again and sit up she found her hands crudely bound together. A further cursory glance she noticed that she'd been dressed up like a barbie doll. Hot pants and a small halterneck top revealing too much midrif and cleavage. She was still soaked from the tumble through the tidle wave, her hair loose and plastered to her shoulders.

"Oh man... Look. What am I doing here?" She asked, looking at the kids.

"We saved you..."

"You were drowning and all torn up."

"We dressed you up like all good pets are dressed."

"What?!" She bleated. "Pets?!"

"Yeah, although, mostly we dont keep the wild ones. They get shot."

"Uh-huh."

"You are kidding right? Can't you just let me go?" Jade pleaded.

"No! you might hurt us. Wild humans are really mean Mum always says."

"Yeah! You'll run away and get the other wild humans!"

Jade breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of the others being ok. Her mind turned to escape.

"I'm hungry. Can you get me something to eat?" She asked, putting on her best hurt, injured expression.

"Urm..."

"Sure... But... Behave or we'll have to shoot you." The little rodent was deadly serious. Jade gulped.

"I promise I will stay here like a good pet." She smilled reasuingly at the two kids as they scurried away.

Struggling to her feet. Bare feet she noted, Jade headed for the door. It swooshed open into another room. It was white, clinical and empty of anything. The kids must have brought her down to this unsuled area because there were no Roo. Her bag and gun were lying on the ground, discarded in a corner. With an effort of body contortion, like a convoluted game of twister meets the Krypton factor she was able to bend, twist and stretch till she clasped her hands around the bag.

"I guess I have to leave you..." She looked at the gun, wantingly and then made a beeline for the exit door. She was only about one hundred yards up the corridor when the shot rang out.

"Sooty I'll deal with you later." Came a deep booming gerbil voice behind Jade. The small squeeky voice of the first rodent made a sad sorry noise and hid behind the larger male.

"I don't suppose that you would consider not killing me?" Jade asked, turning to face the rodent and backing up slowly.

"No." He rumbled.

"Didn't think so..." Jade said, once again turning and running. Now it's a fine fact that running with your hands tied behind your back isn't easy. She made it about 800 yards before she over balanced and fell forwards, breaking her fall on her hip and shoulder. Wincing at the heavy impact she crawled like a worm onto her back to try and lever herself upwards again.

A heavy paw landed on her chest and the barrel of a Roo gun was pointed in her face.

"Got you." The male growled and clicked the firing mechanisms into place.
