The Great Glass non-Elevator

The group were in the control room, all searching over the database in front of them, looking for any trace of their time drive.

"Can't you search for temporal signatures? the same way they tracked us?" Jacky asked, but Jamie was at the controls.

"It won't work. This entire ship is a temporal black hole. It either gives off too much temporal signature itself, or it's shielded so no scans pick anything up here."

"What's that?" Eve asked, pointing to something showing up like a pulsing orb on the scanner screen.

"Not sure, but I think it's a super weapon of some kind. Probably safe where it is." Jamie replied.

"Can you hear me?" Came the voice of Cass, from the computer, with a slight crackle.

"yeah." Jamie said, hitting the communications button. "Strength's not great, but it's doable."

"Excellent, I found the right frequency." She said, and the crackle began to fade away. "have you found the time drive yet?"

"Not yet. There are too many storage systems to go through." He replied.

"We didn't use the time drive that long ago. Try looking for the most recent temporal disturbance." Cass said.

Jacky seemed to act a bit smug at the suggestion, but Jamie wasn't paying attention, and hit the temporal scanner system.

"There's a fluctuating signal coming from the far end..." Jacky said, as he was the first to see it. Almost as if he wanted to prove himself right.

"That'll be the drive recharging." Cass said. "What storage unit?"

Jamie used the computer to zoom in on that section. "Container Red 4-2" Jamie said as it appeared on screen. "I think it's colour coded. Red for temporal devices."

"Does that mean they've potentially got 42 time drives?" Eve said.

"Probably not, it specifically says 4-2." Jamie said, emphasising the hyphen. "Probably category and then item number."

"So." Cass said through the comms system that had been active the whole time. "There's only two time drives in here? We need to work fast."

The firefight below them was still raging. Plasma bolts, bullets and even the odd arrow flew across the room, destroying storage units, killing people and generally making a loud noise all over the place.

Then, the control room shuddered, as a rocket exploded beneath it, shattering one of the glass panels. Fortunately, it was one off to the side, away from everyone, so the glass just showered the floor.

"Don't know how long this place will be structurally sound." Jamie said, instinctively shielding himself from the shrapnel, even though it didn't reach anywhere near him.

<tag guys. Can Cass get to the storage unit, or does she need help? Just as importantly, did that rocket do any other damage that might mean WE need help?>
