Rose and JD night incounter Pt. 2

The two walked to the trail. He looked down the trail path for a second as looking for something taking a sip of his. "Being new I have not heard too much about it. Some have said, well things I will not say in the presents of a lady. and others talk of some ghost I think it was of some dead teacher or student." he said.

"Oh, the ghost one seems to change between student or teacher depending on who you talk to." She sipped her coffee again. "There is though one only the artists and musicians know. Supposedly, a long time a student that was extremely gifted in all of the arts. Music, painting, acting lost the love of their life, and when he died her muse died as well. She couldn't do anything artistic for months. One day she was walking down the trail and came across strange stones that were sparkling. She found several of these and picked them all up bringing them back to her dorm room." By this point, they were walking down the trail. "She began to write a song and noticed her muse was back. Then she painted. Her muse was back but every time she did something artistic one of the rocks would lose its sparkle. When all the rocks lost their sparkle; she lost her muse for good and was never able to do anything artistic again. So, the legend says not to pick up any rocks from the trail." Rose shrugged. "I heard the real reason for the legend is people kept taking rocks off the trail and it bugged the principal at the time."

JD let out a small laugh "I guess this place has to have a lesson for everything. Don't kick the rocks they might come back to haunt you." he said jokingly." He took a drink of his Coffee Mocha "I hope I never lose my ability to play music. I might just go insane" he said sincerely. he looked over to Rose her hair shined in the moon. Her eyes sparkled and her skin had a glowing hue his heart skipped a beat as he stared at her. Then stumbles some for not paying attention to how he was walking. His face turned from a smile to embarrassment. "wow this Coffee Mocha must be stronger than I thought." as he tried to play it off. He let out a sigh. "Just to let you know I was hurt badly in track. I was pole vaulting 15 feet up my pole broke flip me to the side I hit the side stand and missed the matt landed on the curb on my back between the track and the field. They thought I broke my back could not walk for days. but as you can see I recovered. It was nothing like what happened to you. but I am glad you are here." said JD.

Rose laughed. She knew the legend was silly but that's how some legends were. Nodding to what he said about his music. "I feel that way about my art." She smiled. "It's the rocks. They'll get you every time." She wasn't making fun of him tripping more the fact they had just talked about that silly legend. She listened as he talked about his accident. "Thanks. I'm glad you were able to recover. Do you still do track?" Once he answers she said. "Callahan is splitting the events with me and another girl. I'm going to be doing the balance beam and the uneven bars. The other girl will be doing the floor and vault. Callahan and my doctor apparently came up with the idea so it wouldn't be as taxing on me." Rose felt a little weird about not doing the all around but it was something.

"It is a start you can build back up and if you let me I will be beside you all the way. I know Sam will. I did say before I still do track but I don't pole vault anymore not sure if it's me or my parents. I think it really scared my mom. I am sure your parents were worried about you. Even now with you here and them back east." said JD.

"Thanks. It would be a big help to have you there, as well." She listened when he talked about pole vault and his mom but when he mentioned her own parents being worried about her, Rose got quiet. The kind of quiet that comes from inside. There was nothing, remotely about her parents, that made Rose think that they were ever concerned about her. Just don't embarrass the family that was what they cared about. But she didn't know if JD would understand; most people didn't. It was hard for people to grasp that for a girl who could have everything money could buy she was certainly lacking in other parts of her life.

He watched as her demeanor changed and she got quiet. He knew right away he had said something wrong. He had to think quickly and change the subject. "You said you like art you mentioned painting before So have you got to put your paintings in a gallery or show them off yet?" he asked trying to change the direction of the conversation.

And then the gallery question came up and white that was another aspect of her life she didn't speak about much but she also didn't want to come off as a minefield. "Actually, I have. I used to show in galleries a lot but stopped doing it a few years ago. I might go back to it eventually."

"Oh cool," he said with a smile he looked into her eyes and stared for a moment like reading her. "If I am making things difficult let me know, please. I know I can come across like I am integrating someone" he says softly. "I know you like horses do you have any? I did not ask you before about that" asked JD.

"No. It's fine. I mean ...I just don't like talking about my parents. My relationship with them is well... Complicated. " Switching subjects to horses brought a smile to get face. "Yes. Well, my family has several on our estate but there is one that's mine." She pulled out her phone and scrolled past some pictures until she found what she was looking for. She handed JD the phone. "That's him. Oasi di Mezzanotte is his full name but I usually call him Midnight." Starring back from the phone was a picture of a Pure Black Arabian horse. And Rose talked about him as if she were a proud parent. She obviously not only loved this horse but had a bond with him. "Here" Once he got a good look at the first image of Midnight which was the horse by himself. She scrolled to show JD a picture of a much younger Rose sitting on top of Midnight. "That was when I first got him. I was nine. We used to be on the equestrian team at my last school but he's now back in Long Island." While Rose missed Midnight she loved talking about him and she got a kind of sparkle to her tone. Midnight was definitely a safe topic.

"Nice horse, I don't know much about horses. The ones I have got to ride are Stallions, my grandmother and great-grandmother own a lot of them and some Shires." He pulls out his phone. "By the way, why use an Italian name for your horse?" showing the pitcher showing him also at a younger age on a large white Stallion "his name is Magnus Maximus." Switching pitchers, he is on a wagon with large wine barrels on the back with six brown Shires. "This one is with my uncle" interesting thing JD is dressed like a knight in Chain armor. "But this is Tank a Shire horse my uncle Don in Montana owns him. he said with a big smile.

When he asked why she used an Italian name she breathed a laugh. "Truthfully, because I was nine and in love with anything related to Italy. I still am but I don't know if I would have done that now." She and JD had already discussed that she spoke fluent Italian but that had little to do with she named her horse. Looking at the picture. "Wow. He's beautiful." Then on to the next picture. "He's also beautiful. Why are you dressed like a knight?"

"There was a fall parade in town. My uncle thought it would be funny if I was in It dressed as a knight. Not like a Tank even notest that I had gained 50 pounds" laughed JD. My dad was deployed my mom had to go to Spain for an emergency when my great aunt died. So I and my sis stayed with my uncle Don. Two months in Montana on a ranch was fun I guess." JD said. Tank was a funny horse he thought he was a dog. and instead of running from snakes, he hunted them. He even tried to growl." said JD laughing.

Rose laughed at the idea of a horse hunting snakes and trying to growl. "It sounds like fun. I've never been to Montana or a ranch." Granted she traveled more than many people but she hadn't ever been to a ranch.

"To me, a Ranch is another word for work," he said with a smile. "and the land where my uncle lives is beautiful. He owns about 200 acres right next to Yellow Stone park." explains JD

She smiled at him. "It sounds really nice." Sometimes Rose wondered what it was like to have a family, like that. But she was used to not having all of that. So, nothing showed. "So, how old is your sister?" She sipped some more of her coffee wanting to learn a little more about JD and his family.

"She is 13, in 8th grade. He flipped through some pitchers and showed Rose. His sister was standing next to a wall wearing a white shirt black jacket and blue jeans her hair was long. "She looks a lot like my mother's side. she goes to a private middle school in the area. but does live with my parents." he said. He looked at the pic of his sister "she is on the cheer team and plays Volleyball at the school" he explained. when through some more pitchers "My mom and dad this summer on are our way here. last are the newest part of the family Bear. the pitcher showed a large labradoodle. He shows Rose. " you said you had a brother that passed away?" he asked.

Rose looked at the pictures; they looked like a nice family. She smiled when she saw Max. "He's beautiful. I was never allowed to have a dog." Well, being in boarding school since she was eight it was probably for the best. As for Rose's brother, she flipped through a few more pictures until she came to one of the last ones taken of her brother, blonde, haired, blue eyed, the two did look a lot like siblings. "That's him. William. He was five years older than me." She paused. "He played football and soccer. He was into photography but was a business major in college. Until he went to college we were at the same boarding school. We spent every vacation together, usually, traveling. Winter break we always went skiing. Sometimes his best friend Jason would come along.." She flipped until she found one that showed Her brother, herself, and two other people a young man that looked to be about the same age as her brother with darker hair and a young woman also around the same age as the two men with darker hair, dark eyes, and an olive complexion. The four of them were in what looked liked the lodge of a ski resort. "That's Jason, my brother's best friend, and his fiance Maria. They are currently doing humanitarian work in Africa. " She said.

"He sounds like a great guy your brother. If you are stuck here in the winter you can go skiing with my family and Conners family I think is planning to go too. Sam can come too." He offered. Thinking what am I doing I don't even know Rose she might not be even talking to me by then. No, we will be friends still and it is a nice thing to do. But what will mom say O boy explain this one JD. "I know that might have sounded forward of me sorry. I just know what it is like sometimes when in the vacation seasons and to be alone. I think you deserve better than to be alone seƱorita Rose Newhall" JD said with a friendly Spanish accent.

She nodded when he said that her brother sounded like a great guy. He had been. He had earned that title of a good big brother. She still missed him but didn't mind talking about him.
She was surprised and touched by his offer. "That sounds nice, actually. And thanks for the offer." When he said she didn't deserve to be alone, Rose looked down then back up at him. "Thanks for that, as well." He didn't have to say that, but it was nice that he did.
