Boiling Just Below The Surface

The dance was pretty typical of a high school dance. There were groups people could be divided by. The couples, many of whom got swift reminders by the chaperones of keeping a reasonable distance. The single girls in groups who had someone at about 50% of the fast songs saying "that's my song". The single guys who would attempt to dance with the single girls. The wallflowers who basically took a seat and never got up to dance. The single girls who thought nothing of dancing with a variety of guys.

Melissa fell into the last category, after all it was just a dance or two. Though she found herself spending a good deal of time with Jason. He also had no shortage of girls to dance with.

Doug realized his date wasn't making Melissa jealous and went about dancing with a variety of random girls. When that didn't work, either, his anger grew to almost a boiling point.

Mel had just danced with one of the theater guys, and had opted for a break. She went to get a drink, Doug followed her. She stepped in the hallway for a moment, Doug followed her. Melissa sat down at the table, Doug sat down, at a different table and glared at her.

The girl went from having fun, to be worried in a matter of moments, and it showed on her face. Doug looked like he was going to explode but he wouldn't do anything here, right?

Mel tried to ignore Doug, though it wasn't easy, and focuse on the people dancing.
