Tea Party for All Kinds

Jp with Redsword, Omni, mdman, Lorem, LucianNepreen and Cindy

Elizabeth sent the servants to inform the others about tea time and then went into the dining room. There were actually two dining rooms in the house, one was smaller and more informal. Given the size of the team, it seemed better to use larger of the two dining rooms.

As Elizabeth entered the room she was stopped for a moment by the arrangement of chairs around the table. The servants had thought to bring in one of the larger arm chairs for Cronk and move some of the unnecessary chairs from that side of the table. While the Orc might have fit into one of the regular dining room chairs, it would have been tight. Frankly, Elizabeth did not to test if any of those chairs could withstand the 400 lbs or so the Orc was.

There was also a small step stool, over to the side of the room, in case Lorem needed it but Elizabeth had noticed the gnome was quite adept at navigating surroundings that were not gnome sized.

She took her seat at the head of the table. It was still a little odd feeling to occupy this place when it had always been her father's place.

Sung, being her second in command, had rights to the seat at the opposite end of the table but he could choose a different seat, if he choose.

The table was filled with a variety of foods. As it was a more casual tea, finger sandwiches, fruit, sausages, croissants, a variety of pastries and the like occupied the center of the table.

The servants began to arrive, now it was just to await the current occupants.

As Cronk was wandering the hallways, a servant approached him. “May I be of service?” the servant inquired.

Cronk simply replied, “Whiskey?”

If the servant understood correctly, the orc had wanted a drink. “One moment sir!”

The servant hurried off to retrieve a glass of the whiskey. What they had here was very fine.

Cronk was amused with the things he saw in the mansion. As he awaited the servant, Cronk spied an ornate ceramic vase in the corner of an entryway. Cronk walked over an reaches out to touch it. There are things an orc Cronk’s size should never do with his large fingers. Touching a ceramic vase is one of them. The orc didn’t regulate the strength with which he touched the vase, and the edge of the opening snapped.

“Oopsy!” Cronk said. He heard the servant returning, so Cronk turned, hiding the vase behind him, trying to look innocent.

The servant handed the drink to Cronk. Even though the glass was normal sized, in Cronk’s massive hand, it appeared as a shot glass. Cronk’s brow furrowed.

“Bigger?” the Orc probed.

The servant, not wanting to disgruntle the huge orc, immediately responded, “Of course! One moment sir!” and scurried off.

While the servant was gone, Cronk returned his attention to the vase. Very gingerly, Cronk turned the vase so that the broken lip was in the back. Cronk said to himself, Never know! He turned back around whenever he heard the footsteps of the servant returning, this time carrying an entire bottle of whiskey.

Cronk smiled as the servant handed him the bottle. He drained the glass, returning it to the servant.

“Mr. Cronk,” the servant addressed him, “the Lady Elizabeth requests your presence at tea.”

Cronk nodded an affirmative acknowledgement. “Where Boss…er…Lady Elizabeth?”

The servant swept his arm and replied, “This way, sir!”

Vor had been alerted after only a half hour of decent translations, both relieving and irritating him. What he had gotten through so far proved rather interesting, going over a majority of the Araundan history. He hadn’t found any mention of these misguided Children, but the immediate association with his own people made him wonder if they were a faction driven astray by Kasta.
With the expectation to be present and a grumble that showed his stomach’s desire to attend, he made sure he looked presentable, stealing another glance at the painting and the book before searching for the dining room.

Lord Andrews had made his way to the dining room and sat down taking everything in.

As soon as people were seated the servants were there offering tea and making certain that the guests had everything they needed.

Elizabeth took some tea and greeted people as they came into the dining. She would wait to see who arrived before beginning on introduced.

Sung took his tea and sat it in front of him. Sung watched as people showed up. This was a motley team. Sung had never been mixed up with a team like this before. There was so much talent and showed lots of promise. he had some confidence in the team now that they could just get them all back before morning.

Vor entered behind a servant, having lost himself in this maze of a house. He clearly hadn’t remembered his way around as well as he thought.
Seeing Lady Elizabeth and Mr. Sung already present, as well as another member of their team who’s name escaped him, he bowed respectfully before taking a seat on Mr. Sung’s side of the table, placing a chair between himself and the elder mentor.
Assuming that the others had been invited, he simply ordered water and waited.

Lorem was double timing her pace from the carriage house to the where she had been instructed the tea would be taking place. She had almost lost track of time working on finalizing the many blueprints that met Elizabeth’s approval. As she went, her ink stained fingers reached down and undid the leather straps keeping her outfit contained. Once released, it unfurled back into a simple dress with hidden pockets. She wrapped the excess bindings around her waist like a belt and secured them properly. Next she secured her long blonde hair into a bun atop her head; it would have to suffice, there was no time to do anything more elegant.

Upon arriving she was introduced into the room and chose the tea that was being served. She also put together a small plate of some of the available foods. Fuel to replenish all the deep thinking she had been expending.

Noticing the step stool, she brought it over to one of the chairs and quickly took her seat. Lorem offered all present a friendly smile.

“I hope everyone has had a productive first day?” She inquired with a hint of a rhetorical tone.

Lorem, using both hands, took a light sip of her tea. Before trading the cup for a juicy ripe strawberry from her plate.

With an inherent confidence in his stride, Dumont entered the dining hall and greeted the others warmly as he found a seat.

He enjoyed a cup of tea, a croissant with fig jam, a small chunk of Kaltbach as they waited for everyone to arrive.

He smiled at Lorem’s attempt at polite conversation. “Oui, Fräulein. We are making waves. Soon we will be finding this evil doctor I think.”

He took a few strawberries for himself and continued, “I have seen some of your work near the carriage house. You are an engineer. Have you met Miss Gemma Aberly? I think the two of you may share quite a few interests.”
