Preparing to save the day.

Jacky made himself at ease, brushed his shirt, and began to grumble, since he hated surprises, if they were negative. While the others discussed the situation without him, he muttered.

"Well, I sure can't think of what to do next..." grumbled Jacky, sarcastically.

Everyone turned and looked at him expectantly. Jacky didn't expect for his opinion to be asked, and he disliked large amounts of expecting attention.

"...The repairs. Isn't there a repair program? Skutters and such? Repairs? Fixing things up a bit? Repairs?" Jacky forced himself into saying.

"With damage like this, it could take a while, but the ship seems operational to some degree." Jay responded.

The room fell silent so that everyone could catch their breath and calm down. Eventually it was Plisken who spoke up.

"You think we should do a scan on the planet?" he inquired.

The others nodded in agreement, then waited for someone to operate the scanner. No one wanted to do it, for fear of more trouble. Some of them looked at Seymour, others at Jay, a few at Jacky, which he found odd since he hadn't been of much use before. After long, crippling silence, Plisken got up.

"I'll do it!" he announced somewhat heroically.

He made his way to the scanner panel and began inspecting it. Carefully, he pulled a lever, which dispensed fresh hot soup, which, due to a pipe leak, sprayed into Jacky's eyes.

"AGH" Jacky called out in surprise. Plisken looked a bit frightened, knowing of what happened to Justin.

Jacky got up, without a sound. His skin was red from the soup. He let out a long sigh.

"If you're going to spray me with hot soup, please make it Chicken and Rice. I smegging hate tomato." Jacky said at last. Someone giggled at that.

Jacky took control of the scanner, which he knew a little of, and got, eventually, a basic overview of the planet.

"S-3 atmosphere, habitable, multiple life signs apart from plants, fungus and micro-organism." Jacky read off of the monitor.

"Let me see." Alex said. Alex pushed his way in to have a look at the tiny scan monitor. Alex pushed the zoom button down on the planet. He saw none other than a humanoid woman-- but with three breasts, and in skimpy clothing. He stared at it for a while.

He was interrupted by the sudden power surge, turning the lights off.

"What the smeg?" he questioned.

The lights returned, slightly dim. a faint image of Cass appeared on the monitor that the alien woman used to be on.

"The ship took a beating. The engines need some work, but that can be repaired by Skutters. What we really need is a replacement generator adaptation unit." she said.

"A what?" asked Plisken.

"The GDU..." began Jay. "The generator for power to the ship is massive. It spreads throughout the ship in a series of cables and various units. The GDU is a small box that all the cords send energy through. Basically their meeting point for passing energy. Think of it like the toolbooth for their highway. It seems that Cass broke it." He said grimly.

"Then how is she transmitting a message if power can't be put through the ship?" asked Seymour.

"We're running on emergency backup power, but it won't last long at all." Cass answered.

"Can it be repaired?" Jacky asked, beginning to panic.

"No... well, kind of. All the pressure it was put through in that last move fried its main capacitor." Cass stated. "if we got a new one, it could be repaired very easily... but we don't have a spare."

"We're smegged." Jacky said, in a state of shocked panic.

"There's a derelict JMC craft nearby that'll have one... but we can't move any closer to it. Not with backup power." Cass added.

"We're smegged." Plisken, Jacky and Seymour said in unison.

"Stop panicking!" Cass said, heavily annoyed. "Down on the planet below there should be some materials to make a makeshift capacitor. If you can find them, you can use the energy to move the dwarf close enough to fly to the derelict with a Starbug or Blue Midget."

"Go down THERE?" Alex said, slightly excitedly.

"Yes." said Cass. "Take the Holly watches with you so we can keep talking. I'll tell you the materials when you get there."

Everyone began charging down the hall as soon as possible to the Starbug and Blue Midget quarters to get down to the planet. They were split into groups and each group given a vehicle, and they prepared to get to the planet as soon as possible.

Jacky sat back in his seat and prepared to fly in the Blue Midget, when a chirp came from his personal Holly watch. He lifted it to his eyes, expecting to see Cass, but instead got quite a shock.

"I think I've found something worse than being a soft-light hologram." said Justin to Jacky.
