Dancing On The Sand (open)

(Day 4. Friday Beach Party)

Once Justin said Ok to talking a walk, Kyle started walking more towards the water and then up the beach to an area that was quieter, not too far as to seem strange for just having met but at least they could talk there without having to shout or being interrupted every minute by something. As they were walking Kyle heard Justin mention the music and the cool kids. He smiled. "I think you're right." About the rich kids overcompensating. "My music tastes are pretty eclectic but I mostly like older rock and pop like pre-2000 but there is some newer stuff that's good as well that I like." He grew up exposed to all kinds of music and it showed. "How about you what kind of music do you like?" He meant besides what they had discussed at the track, Kyle remembered that talk the first day they met.

Justin was pleasantly surprised by Kyle's music preference. He too had a fondness for different musical genres. He definitely liked the direction of this conversation.

Justin: Well my tastes vary depending on my mood. Sometime I like Techno since it has a good dance beat, but I am also keen to Rock, Jazz, Pop Rock, Funk, Country, Rhythm and Blues. I try not to limit myself since there is so much out there to enjoy. What can I say....I love music, fashion, food and art. There are so many beautiful things in the world to enjoy so its hard to settle on one thing. I feel if I do I will loose my creative edge. How about you Kyle? What your cup of tea?

"I like a variety of things as well, food, art, and fashion are definitely up there but my first love is film. It's not just about making my own films but also about really enjoying other people's films. I love the idea of looking through life, whether that be real or fictional, through the lens of a camera. My second is music, performing but also writing my own pieces. I guess it's mostly about things that bring more meaning and beauty to life. Even if that meaning might be interpreted a million different ways." Kyle paused as if thinking. "You know we have some really good artists at the school. The art show, in the spring, seems to all draw them out of the woodwork."

He walked a little bit and then stopped and looked over the water. "I'd like to see some of your designs sometime, if you want to show them to me, that is." He meant that. He was curious about what kind of things Justin created. "So, do you know about the local art galleries?"

Sometime later Conner saw Kaylee sitting with a few freshmen he had remembered her from the last time he was at the vineyard with Matt and others. he thought for a moment having a junior ask to dance would be cool and she was cute he did not think Matt would mind. he walked up to her and her group "hay Kaylee I have not seen you in a while. I hope you are having fun." he held out his and as he always doses. "I would be honored if you would dance with me," he said with a smile.

Kaylee had managed to find a few of the resident skaters of the school and had been talking about various tricks. Some guy named Travis, who seemed so typical skater that Kaylee thought he could be the poster boy for it, told her about a skating area that was going to be set up tomorrow on the east side of the beach. She was definitely going to check that out.

After that a few of the nicer cheerleaders said hi to her, though she had arrived late to the school, she was slowly getting settled. She had just drunk some sips of water from her water bottle when a familiar face came over to ask her to dance.

Kaylee had met Conner last year when her brother had brought a few of his friends home for a long weekend in the spring. And then saw him again when she had stayed with Courtney and Sam to visit the school. She hadn't realized until she got here that Sam was now roommates with Rose and Courtney was with one of the cheerleaders, part of the "Elite" crowd. Elena. Anyway, she didn't know everything about that but it seemed to be a mutual thing and Courtney and Sam were still friends so it was all good.

Kaylee gave him a friendly smile and said. "Sure. " She got up and went with him to the dancing area. "And yes, I'm having a great time. Can't wait to hit the waves tomorrow. How about you?" She was trying to not slip between French and English but that's how her family talked at home and it was sometimes hard to do.
