Former Roommates

(Day 5 - Saturday morning, beach party)

Sam had awoken to Courtney who clearly had been up a while waking her up. "Get up or you're going to miss breakfast."

"Huh? Oh..." Sam blinked a little and yawned. "What time is it?"

"It's about 8."

Sam glanced over and noticed there were a few girls just waking up but Rose wasn't around. "Where's Rose?"

"She said she got up early to meet the catering trucks. When she mentioned waking you up, I volunteered." Courtney smiled. "It's been a while since I've gotten to annoy you in the morning."

"You know it's because of you I'm now, usually, a morning person and I get to annoy Rose with it."

"You're welcome." Courtney joked.

Sam sat up. "So, how are things with your new roommate?"

"Ok." Courtney shrugged. "I can't say I've spoken much to her."

"I felt bad just leaving you to a new roommate like that," Sam said. The two had been roommates last year and they had gotten along really well. Rose had a single last year but with everything that had happened to Rose last year; she knew that Rose had needed her.

"I get it. It's fine." Courtney meant that. "I don't know what happened to Rose but it couldn't have been good. She's your best friend and she needs you, I get that."

'Thanks." Sam said, "Well, the three of us should hang out together more often."

"Sho 'nuff." Courtney nodded.

"Great." Sam checked phone. "Heath, apparently, also woke up later than usual, as well."

Courtney couldn't help but notice that the mention of Heath's name by Sam didn't sting, it was more of a slight twinge in her stomach. Huh? It seemed weird, even to her, that she would go from being devastated over the boy to whatever this was. Her phone then chimed and it was Matt. Matt... not thinking too hard on that right now. She saw Sam stand up.

Sam then said. "I'll be down shortly." Courtney nodded and left Sam to get ready.
