Nectar Of The Gods

So Jack put on his jogging suit and made his way to the track in the back of the school. Once he was running he felt better and his stress was fading away. The only sound he could hear was his footsteps on the ground. It was rather therapeutic and calming to not have the daily hustle and bustle of life getting him down. His mind was blank and serene as he ran in circles around the track. Oddly enough a few others had the same idea as they were running the track for a morning work out. Jack of course was focused on himself so he didn't pay much attention to who was running.

He saw Jack running on the track, so he stretched a little then tried to run with Jack.
Thomas soon realized that Jack was built for running, his long legs eating up distance to Thomas’ shorter strides not so much. So he moved out and slowed his pace but kept himself moving. He thought Jack and JD would be good workout partners for each other.

Normally when Jack ran in the wee hours of the morning he would not have to worry about meeting up with friends or talkative strangers. This was mainly because he had no friends and had no interest in making any in the future. All through fifth grade and through eight grade he was solely focused on getting revenge on his childhood bully. However since his plan went up in flames and he was once again the victim of being bullied again he was at his wits end. However this time his bully was a very attractive but highly psychotic girl. The stress was building up inside and he needed to run to free himself from it, even if it was only temporarily. Unfortunately as he made a few more laps he was seeing more people running on the track. He was surprised to see the nerdy Asian kid who got picked on by the jocks at the football game. He wondered if he was trying to get in shape for revenge or something. Sadly since Jack was not into making friends he didn't focus on learning names unless he had to.

The next morning, he got up and was just behind his roommate getting out of the dorm JD stopped off at the bathroom before heading to the track. He started out slow until he wormed up. He saw Thomas and Jack running he ran buy saying “Hi, Jack and roomme" then slowly increased until he was at his 6 min mile pace.

Jack noticed the jock saying hi to him and out of instinct he responded since he was still on auto pilot from running.

Jack: Hey.

As the jock passed him up Jack was a complete loss since he couldn't remember the guys name. Sadly this bothered him a bit since he might have to talk to him again and he would feel like a total idiot for not remembering who he was. Since Jack was not used to being social with others on a regular basis, he found he was bad with names. In all honesty if it wasn't for Ashley taking over his life, he would not have even bothered to get to know anyone at all. Of course he had to learn his roommates name since he was going to live with the guy for the rest of the school year and he remembered a few of the jock's names like lance, Charlie and Joey since they were pissing him off. However it was weird talking to other people he didn't hate or had to live with. Normally the mean scowl on his face was a big deterrent for anyone to not get close to him. However because of Ashley people began to overlook his mean scowl and consider him as shy. It was frustrating to bend to her will, but her iron grip was no joke. Any jock unlucky enough to experience her crushing grip would wet their pants.

He would keep that up for three miles JD thought it would be enough. JD wondered where Ashly was and how did Jack escape her iron claws. He almost laughs at the picture of it in his mind. As he got close to Jack, he could not help it “Jack where is your shadow, Ashly?” he said in a teasing tone. “sorry man, just could not help it.”

Jack glared at JD when he made his joke and grit his teeth as he needed to reel in his anger. It was bad enough he had to spend time with her now but now he was going to have to deal with the teasing from other students. Granted he apologized but he had no idea how harsh it was to be her boyfriend. It literally felt like a prison sentence to poor Jack. He wanted to run away and escape, but knew it was futile since she could read his mind somehow and knew what he was thinking. Hoping to avoid more stress he spoke up.

Jack: Yeah.

It was then that Jack remembered the jock's name was JD. Oddly enough he was one of the few jocks who was not a complete @sshat. Seeing as he was not winded either he figured he trained on a regular basis. It was obvious which jocks trained without the coach around since it involved getting up early.

Jack: If I don't unwind like this...…………… I will end up in the principle's office.

Sam shook her head. "Nope." With a that's it, no arguments way about it.
Rose actually liked that someone was that concerned about her but she didn't want to hold the other girl back. She figured the slight mother hen Sam had going would die down after a few weeks, anyway.
They started to catch up to the guys in front of them enough they could tell their was some talking going on but not close enough to make out what was being said.
Sam then spoke up. "Just think. This then coffee."
Rose laughed slightly. Sam practically lived on coffee. "Oh, that does sound worth it."

As Jack and JD were passing Rose and Sam he heard her say coffee and Jack started to crave a cup now. Coffee was something he found took the edge off his stress other than exercise. He wasn't to keen on soda due to the high sugar but coffee was like the nectar of the gods to him. It was as if god put coffee on earth to help people relax and forget about their worries. Without thinking he spoke his thoughts.

Jack: Oh man coffee sounds good right now.
