The Simming Endeavor: Episode 9 (Return)

Hello, and welcome back to The Simming Endeavor, an online role playing elimination game of skill, luck, and cunnning, with a top prize of $100 USD. I’m Charles Star, and I’m still your host. This experiment is both sim and game show at the same time. The contestants role play together in the play-by-post sim we created on the Ongoing Worlds platform while weekly blog posts here simultaneously serve as game show episodes. After last week, we’re down to just five of our original 13 contestants. Who will it be this week?

What a week!!!
.
.

GO FAB 5!!!!
.
.

So many people lost over time…but we shall persevere!
.
.

Its getting quiet around here. *Looks around nervously.
.
.

Avakhon Khinsharri’s exit post is here.
.
.

Thank you, October. With Avakhon Khinsharri’s elimination, Zuzutoo is now the player with the highest remaining precedence number. Zuzutoo, do you choose to become the Captain/Host yourself, allow Mavis to continue in the post, or do you select someone else entirely?

Since this Victorian world was of her creation I am seceding control of story over to Corliss Fortune.
.

Thank you, Zuzutoo. Make it so: Corliss Fortune is now the Captain/host in-story. Corliss, would you like to say anything to your team?
.

Sure! This is going to be sweeeet, guys. Just imagine all the fun stuff we can do: cults, burning of London…Cthulu…I am a merciful leader, I swear (as she hides the fact she killed her own NPC).

This is an elaborate ruse to introduce Captain Planet to the plot. Admit it!!
.
.

OHHH!!! You speak of his unholiness!
.
.

Excellent choices! Loving it already.
.
.

Thank you, Corliss. This week’s special guest is someone well known and highly regarded in the Star Trek role playing world. In fact, he won the prestigious Simming Prize last year for his work in a number of different areas. Without any further ado, here is John Nugra of UFOP: Starbase 118.

Thank you, Charles. I must say, this is a really fantastic game you all have going here. Not only this show, but the sim is one of the best I’ve ever read. This is top-level role play.

We try! 🙂
.
.

NUGRAAAA!!!! *waves excitedly
.
.

I’m chuffed already.
.
.

Welcome to the Nebula John. Pull up a chair and order yourself a bottle of crazy.
.
.

Why thank you, John! As you might have noticed, we moved out of Star Trek and into a new genre a few weeks ago.
.

Charles, as a matter of fact, I had noticed that… and it concerns this week’s challenge.
.

Oh?
.
.

Simmers, your challenge this week is to change the game’s in-story genre back to Star Trek.  The story must be continuous with your characters transitioning together from their current world back into Trek.

Wow, that is a doozy.
.
.

Ok John that’s enough crazy for you please hand back the bottle.
.
.

Seriously?! Noooooooooo!
.
.

Hmmm. This is going to take some thinking!
.
.

As a reminder to everyone, John and all of our special guests grade challenge posts based on quality, originality, and readability. Contestants, your challenge post must be submitted by 12:00 noon EST on Wednesday. As was the case when we moved out of Trek, only the winning challenge post will be considered canon moving forward. Are there any questions?

How do we transition together in singular posts? I’ve got a bad feeling about this….
.

So we need to collaborate to decide a common approach and then write the genre transition separately?
.

Negative, you will each write your own post that brings the characters and story back to Star Trek. Since there will be obvious plot conflicts between the posts, only the challenge winner’s post will be considered canon–just like we did when we transitioned out of Trek a few weeks ago.

I have a riddle for you, Mr. Star, a conundrum if you will… What’s the difference between you and a Mallard with a cold?
.

I don’t know, what?
.
.

One is a sick duck and I forget the rest 😉
.
.

I’m glad you’re an security officer. With tact like that, you’d make a lousy psychiatrist. Simmers, your challenge begins now.  Good luck!
.

.

John, welcome back. How were the challenge posts?
.
.

They were were excellent. Picking a top two was tough!
.
.

And what two did you come up with?
.
.

The posts by Largehobbit and October.
.
.

Wow at this point I can only say thank you, the competition is so hot 🙂
.
.

Well done again guys! Great posts!
.
.

Yay! Good job!
.
.

Largehobbit and October, please step forward. Each of you, in that order, why do you think you might win this week’s challenge?
.

I’m up against a good post this week, we’ll see how it goes…
.
.

This was was very good in the way it put the words together and portraying the character’s feelings.
.

Halloween inspired me for sure. We’re dealing with Stonehenge and old Celtic legends, a smidge of witch craft… You know… bubble bubble boil and trouble sorta stuff… and then there’s Romulans.

I really liked the cadence on this one and how it evoked imagery. Very well done.
.

Who was #1 this week?
.
.

KEEP ON RIDIN HARD LADY LUCK! Tho let’s be real, Hobbit is a TITAN!
.
.

I’m out of drums today, would a buttered roll suffice?
.
.

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

That would be October.
.
.

Congratulations, October, you’ve won immunity once again!
.
.

October strikes again lol!
.
.

Congrats!!
.
.

*pops party popper
.
.

John, it’s been fun! Thank you for your help with this week’s episode.
.
.

The pleasure was all mine… except for having to pick a single winner from five great post. Good luck, everyone!
.

October has immunity this week. Contestants, cast your ballot for elimination now.
.

Mavis, I’m sorry! The roller was just not in your favor U_U (it gets harder and harder every week…)
.

Mavis.
.
.

So I still think we should throw a mutiny and vote off Charles…. but my vote is for Corliss Fortune. Sorry, that’s how the dice rolled. Getting harder to roll them every week!

Mavis.
.
.

Dice said Mavis… Again… And I want to hurl over it because I love Madame Mavis and potentially axing our skipper, suuuucks.
.

That’s one vote for Corliss Fortune, and four votes for Mavis. I’m sorry, Mavis, but you are eliminated from The Simming Endeavor.  Please provide any final words for the remaining contestants and who you would like to write your character out of the story.

Ah it’s been a good run. Been fun. I have only 1 thing left to say…. CURSE YOU PERRY THE PLATYPUS! *drops the mic*  Oh, and October will write me out.

Bad luck Mavis it’s poor thanks for getting us out of the Nebula I know 🙁
.
.

We love you, Mavis, we’ll see you somedaaaay~
.
.

Mavis, you had quite a ride. Despite beginning with the low precedence number, you immediately became Captain and then had a prominent role throughout. Well done!

You never know what to expect.
.
.

Indeed. We also saw our 150th post last week. This is The Simming Endeavor.
.

Tune in here to Ongoing Worlds next Sunday, November 10th for Episode 10 as the remaining 4 contestants return to their original Star Trek genre!
