The Simming Endeavor: Episode 6 (Change)

Hello, and welcome back to The Simming Endeavor, an online role playing elimination game of skill, luck, and cunnning, with a top prize of $100 USD. I am Charles Star, and I am your host. This experiment is both sim and game show at the same time. The contestants role play together in the play-by-post sim we created on the Ongoing Worlds platform while weekly blog posts here simultaneously serve as game show episodes. Last week was challenging. Don’t expect anything different this week.

Let’s not do last week again… Ever.
.
.

Tabitha’s exit post is here.
.
.

Well done.
.
.

Thank you, Corliss. Before we meet our guest, we have some other business to attend to first. With Tabitha eliminated last week, that leaves Avakhon Khinsharri as the remaining contestant with the highest precedence number, a three. Avakhon, you have a choice to make: Would you like to become Captain & host yourself, allow Mavis to keep it, or choose someone else entirely?

After careful consideration, consultation with the other players, and thoughtful deliberation, I have decided to keep Mavis as the Captain until either of us is eliminated. This keeps the continuity and flow of the game scenario intact.

Aw Avakhon you would’ve been a great Captain though Mavis is wonderful!
.
.

Excellent. This week’s special guest is one of the finest role players I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. She’s a leader in the community and even won a Squiddie award back in 2017. Here she is, Misty Diamond of 22nd Fleet. Welcome, Misty!

Thank you, Charles. It’s truly an honor to be on the same stage as all these excellent simmers from such a diverse background of genres. I’ve role played in may different genres myself.

Nice to meet you!
.
.

Hi Misty, Welcome to our game!
.
.

Why hallo!
.
.

Indeed. Some of you might not know that Misty, along with a small group of other big contributors, routinely volunteers to serve as a judge for the Tournament of Simulations... aka ToS. To prevent conflicts of interest, she always seems to end up grading Star Trek sims.

Always.
.
.

And she always complains about that.
.
.

True story.
.
.

Misty, tell them what their challenge is.
.
.

Simmers, your challenge this week is to change the game’s in-story genre from Star Trek to something else… anything else. However, the story must be continuous: your characters in the current Star Trek universe must somehow transition together to the new genre of your choosing.

Yay! Wait, we do what?
.
.

But… But… But…
.
.

This will be hard.
.
.

ooo exciting!!!!
.
.

Another genre, you say…? Hmmm….I think I have an idea!
.
.

She’s still complaining about Star Trek! Contestants, this may be your most difficult challenge yet, and it creates one obvious problem: How do we handle moving into potentially 8 new genres? Easy: Only the top post selected by Misty will be canon for our sim moving forward.

Whoa, we’re gonna stick with a new genre?! I’ll kinda miss Doc Zazi, haha.
.
.

… But…. Awwww here it goes! ::mutters and marches off::
.
.

As a reminder to everyone, Misty and all of our special guests grade challenge posts based on quality, originality, and readability. Contestants, your challenge post must be submitted by 12:00 noon EST on Wednesday. Are there any questions?

Will the genre change continue into the next round?
.
.

Is this for one episode or will this be a permanent change?
.
.

One question at a time! Yes, this change is permanent. Simmers, your challenge begins now.  Good luck!
.

Welcome back, Misty. How were the challenge posts?
.
.

They were very interesting. You’ve got some great contestants here!
.
.

Excellent! Who wrote the top three posts this week?
.
.

That would be Corliss Fortune, Largehobbit, and Zuzutoo.
.
.

Me?! I’m freaking out a little, haha, two for two so far!
.
.

Congratulations guys. You did very well with these posts.
.
.

Zu Zu Zui !!!!!!
.
.

Corliss Fortune, Largehobbit, and Zuzutoo, please step forward. In that order, why do you think you might have won this week’s challenge?
.

I think I took the Detective genre into a slightly different direction with my post. Plus it’s not the usual genre people go with, most people go straight for serial killer/horror, or western, or just adventure.

The Noir feel mixed with language that reminded me of that Whedon show, that has my heart, was intriguing. It had a nice readable flow, the right amount of description, and overall held my attention and left me wanting more.

My wife says it’s very good and really should win this week and she is always right.
.
.

LOL! Cleverly done, shifting throughout the numerous possible genres before landing on Game of Thrones. Just a generally well written post, that was pleasant to read.

Supernatural is a complete change of environment and its a new interpretation of the characters that keeps their personalities, but changes the relationships and how they interact.

This is totally Supernatural with the Ghostfacers and vampires and classic rock. It carried a nice, readable flow and the actions were believable.
.

Three excellent posts. This week’s winner of immunity is… Corliss Fortune! Congratulations!
.

Thank you! I had a great time building a small section of a world and I’m glad everyone seems to be enjoying it as well!
.

Dude! Well done!
.
.

Go Colriss. Now I have to research a whole new thing after only just getting the hang of this. Welp that is how it goes.
.

Largehobbit finished second, and Zuztoo finished third. It’s time to roll that standard six-sided die for the last times. Largehobbit, a 4, 5, or 6 for immunity…

A two! I’m sorry, but no immunity for you!
.
.

I may not of won but every cloud has a silver lining. I now have documented evidence of my wife being wrong about something. I am forever in your debt.

Your pain runs deep. Next, Zuzutoo. A 5 or a 6 for your own immunity, and a 3 or a 4 for someone else’s immunity of your choosing.

A three! Zuzutoo, who would you like to grant immunity to?
.
.

I choose Largehobbit for immunity.
.
.

Zuzutoo you are quite simply the best!! Thank you!
.
.

Zu you are so kind!
.
.

Hooray for Largehobbit!
.
.

Misty, thank you very much for your help with this week’s episode. I’ll see you at ToS.
.

Thank you again for the opportunity to interact with all of these great role players. I had a blast. As for ToS, sure thing… as long as it’s not Trek.
.

No promises! 🙂 Contestants, it’s time to vote someone off. Corliss Fortune and Largehobbit have immunity. Cast your ballots for eliminations now.

October…Sorry!
.
.

Messenger of Heaven. It was hard to pick anyone, I’m sorry.
.
.

My elimination vote goes for October I guess. I am just picking randomly at this point XD.
.
.

Messenger of Heaven.
.
.

Messenger of Heaven. By her own admission it wasn’t her best effort, and the rest put forth a very solid effort to include everyone in another genre. It has been a good game with her inclusion and I’m proud to have worked with ehr in this setting.

That’s two votes for October, and six votes for Messenger of Heaven. I’m sorry, Messenger of Heaven, but you are now eliminated from The Simming Endeavor. Please choose whom you would like to write your character out of the story and provide any final words for the remaining contestants.

I’ve loved being apart of this adventure with you guys, I’ve learned so much and I will truly miss you all! Every challenge and character excited me more, and I’m happy for the friends I’ve made here, so thank you to everyone for the experience and I’ll continue watching and cheering everyone on, in the audience. I request that Sparky write out Zanessa.

Sorry to see you go, MoH!
.
.

All the best, Mess!
.
.

The GAME is afoot!
.
.

Messenger of Heaven, we enjoyed having you on the show. You were a pleasure to watch. As a reminder for the remaining contestants, the rewards for 2nd and 3rd place challenge posts are now over. This is The Detective Endeavor.
