Become a patreon & get Hero Membership

Hero membership

You might have noticed some users on OngoingWorlds have their avatars displayed on their posts, while others don’t.

That’s because some users are Hero Members, which means they are super special and donate monthly to the upkeep of OngoingWorlds (our hosting costs money, which is paid for by members).

Displaying an avatar on a post looks something like this:

User with Hero membership

Without Hero Members donating to the monthly hosting, there wouldn’t even be an OngoingWorlds, so we should be eternally grateful to them!

The great OngoingWorlds outage of March 2019

Yesterday we had quite a large problem with the server, with the website being down for about 16 hours. This was caused by an unexpected server migration by our hosting provider, which lead to the database being out of date. I had to keep the website offline for longer than expected, to wrestle with the company’s technical support and get them to send the latest copy of the database. I wanted to make sure absolutely no data had been lost, because I know how important each and every post is to you guys!

We’ve been spoofed!

Okay It’s not often I post satire here, but OngoingWorlds has been spoofed by the satire site Outpost 42 News, which is sort of like The Onion, or The Daily Mash, you’ve probably seen the type, but for the roleplay community. Read More

FallFest VII. December 9th. Be there.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that 2017 Squiddie winner Bravo Fleet will be hosting FallFest VII on December 9th, 2017!  Bravo Fleet’s own Zachary O’Connell will serve as the chairman.  Bravo Fleet is a fantastic club with a storied history.  We have no doubt that they’ll put on an absolutely wonderful festival a month from today.  Oh yeah, Zachary O’Connell’s pretty cool too!

If you’ve never heard of FallFest (officially the Ongoing Worlds Fall Festival), it’s a time when the entire simming and online roleplaying community comes together for a few short hours in online chat rooms for engaging discussions, interactive trivia games, and live chat role plays.  In short, we share ideas, information, and energy!  Zachary and Bravo Fleet are on point to plan, advertise, and execute the festival.  Indeed, it takes a lot of work to make FallFest happen! The new OngoingWorlds Discord server

Discord

How many of you make use of the Chatbox up there in the corner of the site? Judging by what I’ve seen I would guess not very many. Which is a shame because I think there is real potential for better roleplay, for getting your game noticed, and for meeting new people if it was used.

So, with that in mind, I have set up a Discord server for Ongoing Worlds, and it would be great if people could start to join. Read More

Website problems & how you can help

Hi guys, you might have noticed that last weekend, the website was down for about 10 hours, which is the longest it’s been since launch :-S

I had to perform some fixes, which meant waiting on support staff at the hosting company, and ended up paying for a different hosting band to make sure the website wasn’t hitting memory limits. Which means, the hosting now costs more :-/ Read More
