Freshman Cheer

"No, not yet. I met her on Zoom one day. I stayed at school and the Librarian let me use an iPad. She seemed super intense," Blossom declared, drawing out both words. "The scout, he saw me at state, he sent her videos of me and told her what he saw. Then a few weeks later he came to town and took me and my Mom and Dad out to dinner. It was so fancy," Blossom said, eyes lighting up in memory. "There was this guy who put my napkin on my lap and everything and the menu was in French. It was all the way over in Missoula. We stayed the night at the Florence hotel all the way up on the sixth floor. I must have rode the elevator a dozen times," she enthused.

"Oh, hey. I know you, well I saw you," she said after Jocelyn sat down. Like a lot of people from super small towns Blossom assumed that everyone knew everyone and was super good with faces. "You were at Mickey D's. I had the Happy Meal with the apple slices. This is Thomas, he's like super good at gymnastics and could have gone to Junior Nationals and-" she went around the table, giving everyone else's name and a little fact about them. "And I'm Blossom, like a flower? I do gymnastics too and I have a spot on the cheer squad! Freshman squad, not even JV, but that's okay. You have to earn that."

"What's your name?"
