'Effing Pixie

Oh gods. What was I doing?!

She flushed a bright shade of pink and held her head in her hands. She massaged her temples to prevent a headache from brewing.

I stabbed him with a pair of scissors! Should I offer to look at it? Is that crazy or kind? I mean, I wouldn't want the person who'd just tried to mortaly wound me and then...

She blushed furiously again and moved away from the group slightly, leaning on a tree and listening to the discussion between Cass, Artie and White Wolf. She looked over to the others, Jacky and Jamie huffing still. Alex fumbling with his pockets looking for fags. He scowled and gave up, assuming the cigarettes lost to the now sealed dimention. She noticed him wince as he limped over to a rock and heavilly sat down on it with a huff of frustrated air.

Such nice breath for someone with his habits... I should offer to help him, that leg looks bad...

Obviously his sixth sense kicked in as he felt her eyes on him. He looked up. She looked away, becoming intent on Jacky and Jamie's conversation.

Ak! He's looking. Play it cool Jade. He's just another crew member.

"So then I adjusted the steam valve and routed the pressue through the compressor and into the pipes! BLAM! Instant water cannons." Jamie looked smug, as he regailed Jacky with his tale of engineering prowess. Jacky was beginning to look bored. The brainy bunch's discussion was getting heated. CAss threw up her hands in either discust, frustration, anger or a mix of all three. Knowing Cass, it was probably all three.

"You ok?" Jade asked walking over.

"Yeah. Fin..." She stopped herself, remembering Jade's saying on the shuttle before. "Stupid men. Thats all." She crossed her arms defensivly and scowled at Artie and White Wolf who were still getting increadingly heated. A full blow argument brewing on the horizon like an angry storm cloud.

"Can't all be bad... Was that Jamie?" Jade probled, noticing for the first time the purple-red shaply mark of passion on Cassandra's neck. Cass turned a colour simelar to their sister ship and flustered for words. Jade didn't think that someone so collected and intorovert ever flustered. Someone so sure of everything they said and did at all times, but there it was.

"No. Insect." She said stiffly through gritted teeth. Somewhere nearby, Katrina shuffled uncomfortably. Jade raised an eyebrow, glancing across at Katrina.

"Sure?" Jade questioned jovially.

"Yeah. Why are you so interested? Looks like you had fun yourself." Cass said stonilly, gesturing to the ripped shirtn Jade was wearing.

Aww... No fair, turning the tables like that.

"Yeah. I did..."

What? Really? Did you just say that out loud... Yep. Yep you did. Ah heck.

"Or not really... I'm not sure. It was weird, but..." Jade said honestly, tripping up over her own confusion, unsure of how she felt about the whole uncomfortable mess.

"Heh. You certainly did a number on him" Cass tilted her head towards Alex, who was absently mopping some of the blood from the cut in his forhead with a corner of the sliced vest.

Ooh, zing... What was that supposed to mean? Do they think we...?

"Oh! No! Not like that!" Jade protested, flushing a simelar colour to the one Cass had turned. Cass smirked, having expertly turned the tables away from her own incident and diverted Jade's attention.

"No, No, NO!" Artie stamped his feet in the mud, splooshing it up his legs in a tantrum. Cass looked over and sighed.

"Sorry. I gotta seperate the kids." Cass grumbled, stalking towards the pair. Jade felt that prickly feeling down her neck, the feeling that someone was watching you too closely. As she cast her gaze back around the impromptu camp, she noticed Solvay gazing at her. His eyes soft and lost in thought. As she caught his eye he blushed and looked away.

Heh... Really? What's on your mind? Ah, forget it. What's the worst that can happen?

"You, ah... Want me to take a look at that leg?" She said, walking over, crouching down next to him and making a move for the wounded leg.

Awkwardawkwardawkward.

"Think you've done enough." He said, shifting slightly away. Something deflated slightly inside Jade, briefly the silence was unendingly painful.

Don't lose faith. He might be a loner, but even they need friends sometimes. Don't let the prickles put you off.

She bolstered her own chirpy optimism with in inward peptalk and smiled softly at him. Simultaniously noting that he hadn't checked the inside pocket of his ripped jacket for his fags.

"Well. Don't blame me if it gets swamp muck in it. I'd rather not have to restrain you in the medi-bay again." She said it in good humor, but then her brain gave her a mental kicking.

What the heck are you saying?! You tied him up in a fun house less than an hour ago. QUICK! DO SOMETHING!

"Ah! That is, you know, because of the infection... Like last time... Not saying that you would be as agressive... not because... Not that I..." She trailed off, feeling stupid and embarassed.

Stop, TATS. Just stop talking. Throw away the spade.

She turned away mumbling about her own stupidity and feeling like a naughty kid. He chuckled behind her back. She scowled and wheeled on him, her face full of anger and hurt.

Is he laughing at me? How dare he laugh at me! He was just as bad!

"What?" She growled. Tired, fed up, and achy Jade was beginning to lose her chirpy optimism. The lack of restraint silenced Alex.

"Nuthin'." He mumbled, scowling back.

Gods looks at us. Acting like teenagers. Are you laughing out there Abbie, Dad? How stupid I'm being. These two grown adults acting like stroppy teenage children?

Jade, having briefly gained an outside perspective suddenly understood why Alex might have been laughing. Then she her self giggled, a small, quiet noise that escaped unbidded at the thought of how silly they both must look. Covered in swamp, blood and clothing torn after a highly charged encounter. Alex looked on incredulously, shaking his head at the thought of how mad women were. How hard to understand they were.

"Crazy 'effing pixie." He mumbled. She turned on him again. Acting this time, but pretending she was bug influenced.

"What was that?" She stalked over to him. A dangerous gleem in her eye.

"Crap... Not again." He squeeked. Shuffling backwards.

"Waht did you call me?" She menaced towards him, breathing heavy and low. Placing her hand on his chest between the ripped folds of his vest and letting it slip over his chest slowly. Alex got that conflicted rabbit in a headlights look on his face again. First time she'd truely seen it.

Ha! He's buying it! She danced gleefully in her mind. Grinning like madman inside.

"Jade..?" Some of the others were looking on concerned. Jamie was aproaching in a pincer movement for what looked like a body tackle.

Gotta move fast...

Her hand drifted to the cigarettes and lifted one out. She disguised the movement by leaning down and whispering in his ear. Sweet, sexy, dangerous whispered words. He made a small mewling sound, maybe fear, maybe pleasure. It was hard to tell.

Transfering the fag into her free hand and returning one to his chest, she danced her fingers along the lines of his muscles. Then suddenly, gently, She placed the fag into his mouth and gave him a gentle shove in the chest.

"Careful who you call pixie." She grinned as a surprised Alex began to topple of his perch. "Or you might find yourself in more trouble than you can handle Mr Frowny."
