Mucic & Art

He walked into the music class JD saw Roxy and sat a few rows behind her in the large room. Putting his Fender Guitar next to him he saw some of his equipment on the stage he felt a bit nerves he had not preformed in front of anyone here before. He could only hope to make the Jazz band. JD Knew of Roxy but did not know her He did listen to some of her music some the night before trying to find out what type of singer she was.

Rose turned around and the two of them headed off to the music room. When they arrived the room was filling up quickly. They took two seats next to each other and near some students they knew were art students.

As JD played his song list Roxy listened with a smile on her face. A few girls whispered to her that he was good and someone to consider playing with later on. Roxy nodded but promised nothing since she knew the teacher had the last say in these things. However she did see that JD did have some talent for cover songs. She made a mental note to talk to him later on.

Looking at his board he closes his eyes then punches some buttons then opens them. “Ok, well I guess I have to do one more bear with me I will sing Sound of silence.” As he Plays, he looks over the crowd gaging how he was doing. When he finishes, he could only hope he did a good job and impressed the teachers. Giving his last bow he took his gear off stage and sat back in his chair waiting the others not knowing where he stood in the class.

As the students applauded, Roxy had a crooked smile on her face as she looked at JD. She defiantly wanted to know more about him. At the very least they could have a jam session or two. However she needed to see what Ms. Kopper wanted to do before she decided on how to approach JD. Since she had a lot of fans and groupies she needed to be careful on how she behaved since it could create a nasty rumor mill.

Kyle came into music class; recognized a few people. Some he had met, others he had seen around. He did recognize a few people from language arts. He glanced around and instantly recognized Roxy Roker. He had heard a few of her songs; even though it probably wasn't the type of music he usually listened to but with his dad being a record executive Kyle had, at least, heard of several artists whether the company his dad worked for worked with them or not. JD got up and performed. Kyle thought he was good and he knew the ploy of being asked to sing something else; he wasn't surprised by it.

Next went some girl with really long blonde hair, really to her thigh long hair. Well, interesting. She was also good but she was one of those people who could sound like someone else. She was asked to sing about 4 songs; each one she sounded like the original singer. Until, the 4th song when the music teacher, Ms. Kooper, stopped the girl and told her to take a seat. It was impossible to tell what kind of sign that was.
Dawn hadn't made it to first period due her being a late arrival and needing to get her schedule straightened out. She did however get to music class on time. It was a large room that was filling up quickly. She took a seat and listened to the first few auditions before her name was called to come. She walked on to the stage, a little nervous but the good kind of nerves that got her adrenaline pumping. Dawn loved performing in front of people.

"Hi." She said "I'm Dawn Jefferson and I'm trying out for Jazz Band, choir and musical theater. I'm going to be performing "You Learn To Live Without" from the musical If/Then." She sat down at the piano and changed her demeanor instantly to go with the song.
With that song finished she took just a moment and then introduced her next song "Girl on Fire" which was from Alicia Keys. Dawn liked to mix up show tunes with other genres because she was versatile and it was good to see that in auditions. The people being asked to sing a third song seemed to be random or at least it seemed that way. She was met by applause; like the rest. And started to get up when Ms. Kopper asked "Do you play other instruments?"
"Yes" Dawn could, actually, play several instruments. "I have my guitar with me."
"Play something on that."
A dark haired boy gave her her guitar which she proceeded to take out of the case and make sure it was tuned before she broke out into an acoustic version of "Sky Full of Stars." Which was met with more applause before the girl was allowed to go back to her seat.

Roxy nodded as Dawn finished her song list. Dawn was another potential person for a jam session. Roxy smiled as she listened to the comments made by the fan girls around her. A few more students auditioned for Ms. Kopper before she called for Roxy Roker.

Ms. Kopper: Roxy Roker you are next.

Roxy: Coming.

Roxy tiptoed through the crowd surrounding her while smiling and avoiding stepping on anyone. She didn't mind the attention but it did make it hard to do her normal daily stuff. Once she got on the stage the put a guitar by the piano so she could switch off.

Roxy: Well I am going to perform two cover songs and two of my own if that is alright.

Ms. Kopper: Very good. Begin when you are ready then.

Ms. Kopper kept a straight expression with everyone so it was hard to tell what she thought of her students. It kept them on edge and respectful which was a big positive. then Roxy picked up her acoustic guitar and began to play her first cover song.
Wish you were here

She received a large applause as smiled back at the students. Then after the noise simmered down she played another cover song.
Jolene

Once again the students applauded her with joy and smiles. When she was ready she played one of her songs.
Malibu

The students applauded loudly. When she was ready she played one of her songs.
Party in the USA

Since this was one of her big hits she got a much louder applause by the students. Ms. Kopper gave a partial smile as she looked up and spoke.

Ms. Kopper: Thank you Ms. Roker. Okay next is Dave Myers.
