The pill for the cure?

Seymour spoke up and said, “Well its about time Mr. Jaxx. I can’t believe…….” Little did Jaxx or anyone behind him know that a large number of slimy vines were dangling on the inside of the bars. Seymour was interrupted in mid-sentence as Jaxx fell backwards which allowed the slimy wet vines to fling off the bars and onto a very shocked Seymour who was sitting behind Jaxx a few feet away. Jaxx released the bars and slowly turned around to see a very upset Seymour covered in some slimy plant life. Seymour was now irate as he looked at Jaxx with a cross face and said, “Mr. Jaxx do you have any…….” Seymour was again cut off in mid-sentence as he realized the vines were home to swarm of white alien roaches. “Arrrrrrrgggh get them off! Get them off!”

Seeing Seymours face all covered in the slimey vines suddenly made White Wolf very hungry for seaweed salad for some inexplicable reason.

He mentally chided himself - Here they were on an important mission, and he was thinking about his stomach again. But that remind him of one thing he could do that he was fairly good at, Scavenging!

He looked around and began to size up the place. These sewers could provide a lot of things, if they hadn't been thoroughly cleared out by other inhabitants. And by the looks of it, there were none in residence, like he'd expect in a normal city. Which struck him as being slightly strange, you'd think this would perfect hiding place for some of the Ssala. Maybe it was just because of the incidence of tropical storms or something. That was the usual reason such useful areas like this got abandoned.

Though, these sewers did remind him enough of one of the prisons he lived in during the Great Roo war to give him some of the willies. All it needed was some waist high very warm water & a few floating bits of discarded food and he'd feel right at home - Startled at that thought, He quickly shook himself out of that weird moment of reverie and walked over to Jay.

"Say Jay, I'll scout around a short ways in these tunnels and see if I scare up anything useful around here - I'd be real surprised if I can't find something down here we can use." Said the Oversized Hamster.

"That's a good idea. I'll go with Efof & check out whether this opening Jaxx just made will lead us to someplace where we can safely get into the city without being detected. The rest of you guys head back a little ways, hide and keep watch in case someone spots us then comes in here. We'll all meet back here in about twenty minutes, Okay?" Said Jay.

White Wolf nods, dropping to all four and scampered away deeper into the tunnel, while Phil lets out some grumbling and follows the others off into hiding.

{A few minutes later, and a good ways away}

White Wolf was rather annoyed, he found quite a few things thus far - but for the most part, utterly useless without any available power. Like the dozens of different varieties of consumer appliances half buried in the dried silt covering the sewer floor. He could outfit several kitchens and living rooms with all the stuff he turned up. Most of these things were weapons of mass destruction to a vegetable people. Though, some of the metal blades he collected from some of the food processors might be used as hand to hand weapons if it came to that. But he'd preferred to find some other means of fighting the Haruk.

He spotted what looked like a toy gun in another grill like the one Jaxx ripped open - he doubted he'd convince a Haruk that it was energy weapon of some sort, though. It looked too flimsy and plasticy. But he pocketed it anyways just in case, and considered the grating some more, noting there was large tangle of wood and other heavy looking debris in connecting spillway just at the edge of his eyesight beyond the the grating. It might be worth investigating and yield some good lengths of wood for hefting the blades on and mocking up some pole weapons out of, if he could just get through this grating. The bars were fairly rusted and there was a good bit of acid wear around one of the bars joints, all he'd need was some to give him some leverage and he probably break the joint and bend the bar back enough to squeeze through.

He glanced about the useless appliances for a moment and spotted the loose fabric of a shirt he'd ignored earlier, then grabbed it and ripped a plastic handle off a frying pan.

He muttered out loud as he began to ready his makeshift bar bending apparatus, "Okay, I've got fabric and a handle for twisting. I just need some liquid so this fabric won't rip." He paused, letting out sigh, "Well, I guess I'm going to have to do this the wee way..."

{Several minutes later, and now on the other side of a different grating}

The huge hamster was disentangling six various useful sized of branches of wood and a couple of resin like poles from the mess in front of him. He nearly couldn't believe his luck, he'd found eight potential hefts for making pole weapons out of. As he was dropping one of the resin poles off to the side on the ground beside him, he heard a clunk of something that sounded like metal. He moved the pole and knelt on the ground, feeling around with his claws. He quickly encountered something metallic, then rapidly dug it out.

It looked like a huge metal capsule. It was very well made, and there was a closed hatch on the side. White Wolf popped open the hatch, what he saw inside made his whiskers twitch with anxiety, an early era Roo Tech military data panel.

"There might be an early generation bio plasmic power cell we could use inside this baby, or this could be something extremely bad. Either way, I'll need to know." Thought White Wolf as he used his claws to slowly unscrew the bits and open up the rest of the capsule and examined the inside.

After a very long examination of it's innards, White Wolf mused out loud to himself, "Bloody Hell - it's some kind of extremely high focused energy pulse bomb - Electro magnetic pulse hardened hardware with some kind of Adamantine lustre casing, gravitonic induction capacitors. I think this is one of the experimental weapons that were tested out in the Roo war against the Bots. I wonder if this is where the fronts lines once was a long time ago. This little 'bomb' would definitely take out on a planet wide level the things that the Haruk generators are being used for. But, looks like somebody has been fooling with this, since they purposely drained it's energy cell. In order to fire it now, we'd need to generate 1.5 gigawatts of electricity or have it get struck by lightning."

The rotund hamster shrugged, "Dang, I'm overdue! I better bring this stuff back and inform Jay and the others about it."
