Always Comes Down To Money

When Dante saw that people wanted to hear more, he looked around, then over his shoulder behind him. And when he saw the coast was clear a devilish smile made its way across his face. "Now," he said, "you didn't hear this from me." he leaned in close to the center of the table, and in a loud whisper. "Nix told me that she tossed Joey and Charlie ass over tea kettle when they tried hitting on her." he started, "From what she said they looked like they had more of an 'awakening' than a teen girl watching Labyrinth for the first time." he chucked. "Either way, would have paid to see her toss those idiots into the sand. Probably deserved it or she'd not have bothered with them." he shrugged, and adjusted his glasses, different from the ones he had on yesterday.
"Still though, Nix might not be as strong or skilled as you Ash but she'd give you a run for your money for putting the screws to a guy who tries getting grabby." Dante said, meaning it as a compliment.

Jack smirked as he snorted a bit.

Ashley: Nix sounds like a very capable girl.

Then Ashley looked at Jack and smiled wickedly.

Ashley: Right Jack?

Jack: Yeah those horn dogs had it coming. I'm more surprised it doesn't happen more often to them.

Blossom: Really?

Jack: Who knows with this school.

Ashley: I think Jack means a lot of the girls at this school should stand up for themselves more instead of putting up with rude macho pervs. Right Jack?

Jack: Uhhhh.....Yeah.

Justin: Sadly there is no shortage of guys like that.

Ashley: I know right? Maybe we should start a self defense club so the girls here can stand up to those jerk

Blossom: What kind of stuff would you learn in that club?

Justin: Well it would involved some kind of fighting technique to help the girls defend themselves.

Blossom: Like Wrastlin?

Ashley: Yes exactly. Wrestling, Boxing, Karate, Akido and other Martial Arts. Of course not Kung Fu though.

Blossom: Why not Kung Fu? I thought it was popular?

Ashley: Its to old and predicable now. Unless you mix it with another martial art its useless.

Justin: Did you learn that from your dad?

Ashley: Yeah my dad did a expo event with other martial artists in the ring in some Hollywood studio and moped the floor with that Kung Fu master. It looked like a bad beat down, but dad was right. His moves were easy to read, especially his Drunken Monkey.

Blossom: Wow you really know a lot about that stuff Ashley.

Ashley: Meh. My dad taught me and Jack early on. Right Jack?

Ashley: The problem would be getting permission and enough student to get it going. If we need a certified instructor, Jack and I are Blackbelts in Shotokan Karate and I also have a blackbelt in Aikido, while Jack is still a brown belt. Its great exercise and gives you a strong core on top of being able to protect yourself.

Blossom: Oh wow.

Justin: Well we could ask around if there is enough interest in it.

Ashley: Maybe. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask around. So what do you all think?

Ashley looked around at the others to see their response.

Courtney was, probably to no one’s surprise, the first to speak up. “Well, I’d be in. What I know I know from wrestling and stuff with my brothers but I’ve never had any formal training.” Courtney was considered someone not to mess with, for the most part, but still there seemed to be some people who hadn’t gotten the message. Besides, in her mind, it sounds like fun.

Riley spoke up next. “I’d be interested but I’d have to decide when more was finalized about it.”

Courtney seemed to be thinking for a moment then said. “I’d bet you could get any of the female coaches to help with it. Heck, maybe all of them.” Which was only the truth.

For one brief moment, Mel had a thought, a wonderful thought of defending herself against Doug. Of him attacking her but this time not having to just take it The thought though faded as her phone vibrated and Doug’s name appeared on the text “Sorry,” she said. “I really need to answer this.” Which she did quickly and then got back to the topic at hand. She couldn’t just say that there was no way Doug would ever let her take a class like that. She also couldn’t say that she was injured and on crutches because of a guy at the school so she’d like to know how to defend herself. Instead, she just said. “I’m with Riley, I’d have to know more about it if you are able to get it together.”

Riley then said. “Well, if you want, I could figure out the interest among the other girls I hang out with.”

Courtney added. “I know most of the athletes so I can ask those girls.”

Kyle said. “I think it’s a great idea and I think getting the word around won’t be hard. The problem will be with the school and whether they’d allow it.”

Riley seemed to think for a moment, “Money. You want this school to do anything, you need to find someone who is willing to sponsor it. Offer the school enough to cover equipment, insurance, and at least one adult instructor and you might have it."

Matt had been quiet but then said something. "Or you might be able to get a few parents to sponsor it. That would also show the school that your serious about the class and the parents think it's a good idea." He knew that it sounded like something Kaylee might want to take, and if Kaylee wanted to take it their parents would help fund it, but he couldn't say that part of it, not yet, anyway.
