Head Towards the Light

It was dark by the time they were out of the other side and far enough away to not been seen or heard by the caves. Routine set in and camp was set up again, fires lit and water boiled. After another hour or so, Jade piped up.

"Well, anyone hungry? I got mushroom curry here."

Jaxx had a big grin when Dr. Jade announced dinner ready. Jaxx sniffed and muttered, "Smells good Doc J." Dr. Jade served Jaxx two tin cups of mushroom curry and said, "Thanks Jaxx. Here you go. One for you and for your friend." Jaxx nodded and headed off to Evelina and handed her the the cup of mushroom curry. Jaxx quietly sat and sipped his hot curry as he and Evelina quietly gazed upon the stars. Evelina started talking to Jaxx about what she wanted to do when they got back on the Blue Dwarf. However, Jaxx became distracted by a soft flashing light in the sky with an odd beat. Jaxx zoned off and starred at the blinking light like a firefly.

Eventually Evelina asked, "So what do you think Jaxx?" Jaxx remained mesmerized by the blinking light. When Jaxx did not answer Evelina gave Jaxx a slight elbow jab to the ribs and asked, "Aren't you listening? What are you looking at that's so important?" Jaxx pointed at the blinking light and said, "Sorry Eve babe, but I totally think that strange light is talking to me and stuff." Eveline stood up and looked at the strange faint blinking light. She watched it for a minute and studied the pattern. Eveline thought to herself as she tried to make out the blinking pattern. After she had no success she called to the crew, "Hey guys you might want to check this out."
