Anthropology, Biology, and Sex Therapy

Huh. Why didn't we think of that?" Ransom asked.

"Got caught in the moment..." South admitted, scratching his head.

While they were discussing this, Jamie was sticking his hand into the device they'd created.

"Woah, how can you trust that thing?" Cass asked, hoping not to have two one-armed crewmembers.

"It's fine. The capacitor blew, there's no charge." He responded, and pulled out the charred remains of the component he'd given them. He looked quizically at it, then at the place in the circuit it had been placed.

"Something wrong?" South asked.

"This was meant to be a current smoothing circuit, right?" The engineer asked. "But the polarity was reversed. That's why it blew."

"What? You put that in! How could you get that wrong?!" Ransom exclaimed.

"I'm a BIOLOGIST!" he exclaimed, one last time. "You didn't tell me it had to go in a specific polarity. Why didn't you ask the engineer?"

"Don't bring me into this." Jamie said, and turned to the now shrunk boxes of food. "I'll help getting them into the Phoenix in a minute, got an idea first."

"So, you morons didn't think to ask me for help?" said Artemis, speaking for the first time in ages.

"Why didn't you offer to help Mr. 12 PhDs? You never stop talking about them yet you haven't applied them in ages" said Jay, snidely.

"Because watching the anthropologist and....uh, the doctor with the weird name is the most entertaining thing that has happened since we arrived here. I haven't seen so much ineptitude since I gave a lecture at Titan U.......and I've been busy! You try keeping eight little monsters entertained and a sentient anthrax strain contained at the same time and then we'll talk!"

"Anthropolo?.....BIOLOGIST!" South yelled.

"Whatever! Like it matters! Biologist, geologist, sex therapist....who cares"

The argument raged on between the two men.

Meanwhile, Artemis reviewed some of the data his MS-Scanner had been recording since they arrived. Most of it was garbage and stuff he already knew, but some of it could help in future endeavors.

While the computer systems were made by Charon Labs, everything else was made by a completely unknown manufacturer. The serial numbers on the robots and holograms didn't match any known company, regardless of which year Artemis referenced (up to 3200, that's when the resort's data records started to become warped and fragmented). They used methods to construct the resort not used by anyone else at the time, including some bio-engineering with the food and the long-dead gift shop animals (there was a little bit of DNA left, they were somewhat preserved). Artemis could apply the new data to some of his ongoing experiments on the Dwarf, like making a female Catrantula* so he could breed Cuddles, or using their manufacturing methods in the ISL.

Artemis was pondering the applications when someone tapped him on the shoulder.

"Hey, Artie Dude, can you help load this stuff?" Jaxx asked.

"Oh, of course Mr. Jaxx" Artemis stowed the MS-Scanner and went to help load the boxes....

I didn't know what else to do (I didn't want to take us back to the ship because it seems like there's a few loose ends, and it'd be rude to interrupt any storylines before they wrap up), so I just added on to what was already there. I also realized that I haven't done much science with Artie lately so I found a few ways to do so.

*I don't know if anyone remember the cat-sized tarantula with the cat brain, "Cuddles", that used to terrorize Alex on a daily basis. As far as I know he's still very much still alive.
