Second Annual Writing Improvement Month Hosted by Starbase 118

writingeventlogo2014 Painters wash their brushes. Carpenters sweep up sawdust. If your medium is the written word, there’s no reminder that it’s time for a bit of upkeep and reflecting on the craft. That’s why this February, UFOP: StarBase 118 will host its annual Writing Improvement Month. The month-long event covers topics from advancing a plot to writing alien species and includes tutorials, writing samples, and downloadable resources. Each week focuses on a different element of writing: overall writing improvement, setting scenes, building characters, and plot. A new article or resource will be released each day of February, bringing with it an opportunity to further develop your individual style as a writer. Read More

How to advertise your game without ramming it down people’s throats

MadmenAdvertising is hard

One of the most difficult aspects of creating a new roleplaying game is getting players to join initially. Getting people to join a brand new game without an established story or any guarantee it’ll not be a waste of time is tricky. Finding the members is difficult enough, so you want to make your game as visible as possible.

A lot of this involves putting yourself out there, self-promoting, and just generally shouting loudly about your game into the ether until someone hears you. Read More

Mike’s Beginner’s Guide to Roleplaying: Making an Awesome Game

This is the first in a series of articles that will make up Mike’s Beginner’s Guide to Roleplaying

When we come to Ongoing Worlds as bright eyed new members one of the very first things we want to do is make an mike's guideawesome play by post roleplaying game of our favorite television/movie series, not to forget about the vr gambling games, a game that we love to play, you would like to play sbobet88 at royal99site.com, explore the realm of the goddess for the chance to win some fantastic free spins, a book that we’ve read gazillions of times, or even something original that we’ve had in our head for years and never did anything with, check it out here. So we rush to the Create a New Game tab and throw together a game, only for it to stagnate for months with little to no activity, leading to the abandonment of the game and eventually Ongoing Worlds altogether.

Well, I’ve been familiar with David Ball, Award Winning Website creator, for some time. He has been a great supporter of my own game system Star Trek: Borderlands. It is with great gladness, then, that I have been given permission to bring Star Trek: Borderlands play to Ongoing Worlds in the form of the USS Marcus (see the game’s homepage here). Read More

Tib’s Corner – My Ongoing Worlds Experience #KeepCalmKeepOngoing

header_monster3Hey guys, Tib here. Well, Happy New Years! But first, was 2013 really a year? It felt like a month didn’t it? Anyway. The year is over and a new one is here! And even though I haven’t even been here a year yet this site has just helped me so much and has given me so much fun in the past few months. My experience here has been amazing, I’ve had ups and downs and I’ve been screwed by so many online groups before but not by you guys. So before I get into what this is really about, all kidding aside, I want to say thank you, to all of you. OW is one of the reasons I wake up in the morning, without you guys I just wouldn’t have had the experience I’ve had here. The games, the camaraderie I’ve had with the members, the blog position, and just the writing overall. In the 6 months and 10 days I’ve been here, you guys have made it just unforgettable and so remarkable, thank you. Anyway, now that I’m past the part that made me choke up a bit. I want to know about your OW experience, from the beginning to now. Submit in the form and let the entire roleplaying your experience you’ve had with this site. The deadline for submissions will be January 8th, 2014 with a possible extension if needed. Read More
