Hey-o Ongoing Worlds! It’s been a while hasn’t it? Don’t answer that, we’re not actually talking and you talking to a screen with no reply really isn’t flattering. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. The beacons are lit and I do call for aid! YOUR AID! Why? BECAUSE THE CHAT BOX NEEDS OUR HELP! Read More

Sitcoms and Roleplaying Games

Big Bang Theory cast w logoIn today’s entertainment world, it seems we are flooded with a plethora of shows that seem to just run into each other via plots or ideas. These shows tend to be very unsuccessful and usually end within the pilot or the first or second season if they’re lucky. But then, there are those shows that seem to triumph over the rest, the ones that stick out, the ones you might have thought you would hate but would come to love. Situation Comedies or “Sitcoms” go best with this pattern, in a way, roleplaying games can follow suit. How does it relate? How do you make roleplaying games like sitcoms? hedgehog typingJust had an email from someone who’s lost a post they spent time writing, and then lost it all when they computer crashed. I would have been so angry! Luckily this person wasn’t the aggressive type, or had at least calmed down before emailing me to let me know that it might be broken.

In most cases the auto-save would have saved the post, as it does every minute, but there can be times when it will fail. Read More

Labyrinthine and Immersion Storylines

I've had those nights of writer's block before

This is a screen shot from the game. I posted it because it’s like one of the many nights we’ve all had with the dreaded blank computer screen when trying to post with writer’s block

I have just recently played a demo for a very interesting game created last year by Galactic Cafe and released on the Source Engine. The game was called the Stanley Parable. The Stanley Parable is completely based off of choice and decision where you only have a few controls. WASD to move, mouse to look around, and the mouse 1 button to press buttons or open the occasional door. The game features three main factors. Stanley, the silent protagonist of the game. The Narrator, the faceless man with the British accent that narrates the story and Stanley’s actions. Read More

Tib’s Corner – My Ongoing Worlds Experience #KeepCalmKeepOngoing

header_monster3Hey guys, Tib here. Well, Happy New Years! But first, was 2013 really a year? It felt like a month didn’t it? Anyway. The year is over and a new one is here! And even though I haven’t even been here a year yet this site has just helped me so much and has given me so much fun in the past few months. My experience here has been amazing, I’ve had ups and downs and I’ve been screwed by so many online groups before but not by you guys. So before I get into what this is really about, all kidding aside, I want to say thank you, to all of you. OW is one of the reasons I wake up in the morning, without you guys I just wouldn’t have had the experience I’ve had here. The games, the camaraderie I’ve had with the members, the blog position, and just the writing overall. In the 6 months and 10 days I’ve been here, you guys have made it just unforgettable and so remarkable, thank you. Anyway, now that I’m past the part that made me choke up a bit. I want to know about your OW experience, from the beginning to now. Submit in the form and let the entire roleplaying your experience you’ve had with this site. The deadline for submissions will be January 8th, 2014 with a possible extension if needed. Read More
